Okay guys, I picked up that rear end from Rison and the guy was nice enough to let me get the quad shock brackets off his wrecked 88... there's only one issue: The tag on the cover says it is a 7.5 out of a 86 Thunderbird... from what I understand, a t-bird's rear end is slightly longer than the capri's right? Is this going to cause a major issue or is it something that I can live with? I have stock size tires on it, not sure about the offset of the rims.

The best one is from an 87-88 turbo coupe, its 8.8 with discs, and 3/4" wider per side, depending on wheels, not a huge problem...

    Dont bother with a 7.5

With the 87-88 TC rear end, you can get new caliper brackets from 5.0 Resto that relocate the calipers so you can use stock 4 lug axles, or use ranger axles and re drill the rotors, and you will have a stock width rear with a decent gearset (3.55 for the manuals, 3.73 for the autos) and disc brakes

I know that the 7.5 isn't the best choice, but it was the cheapest and quickest choice. My current rear end is toast and my car is my dd at the moment. I do plan on getting a good 8.8 in the future, but for now the 7.5 is what I have to work with. I am just wanting to make sure that I'm not going to have fitment issues when I try to bolt everything up. I have brand new tires and would really like to keep the sharp fender lip from cutting into them. So, back to my original question. Is a 7.5 with 9'' drum brakes out of a 86 t-bird wider than the stock capri 7.5? If so, how much?

It should bolt right up. Only issue I had was the brake lines but you should be able to reuse your old stuff

It is 3/4 wider than the Capri rear. but you can reuse you axles and drums if they are still good

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll mount everything up this weekend and see if it rubs. If it does, I'll start searching for some axles... Mine are stuck in my old diff. Can't get the carrier pin to even budge.
