    Default 1986 Thunderbird Turbocoupe

I've posted it for sale here before as a project but it's now running all stock and still must sell. I'd thought a few things would work out and I'd be able to keep it but that's not the case right now.

1986 Turbocoupe. Jalapeno red with raven/charcoal leather. 5 speed swap done the correct way (backup lights, neutral safety all work) 88 TC T5 with cable setup. New LUK gold clutch and eliminated cable dogbone with a bolt. Interior is very nice, leather in nice shape with no tears. I did notice a few stiches coming loose on the top of the back seat. Power drivers seat, power windows and locks. One piece A-pillar I made with Autometer Lunar series boost and A/F gauges. Car converted to R134a but has not yet been charged. The P.O before me converted it and a hole ruptured in the evap core. I replaced it with a NOS unit and a new heater core. Car runs great, starts every time and runs smooth. Gillis valve set to 17-18 psi and pulls nice. Car has a Aeromotive adjustable regulator but is otherwise bone stock. Right now it's open 2.5" downpipe with a cat. I have the stock muffler/tail but have a complete 3" stinger setup with magnaflow muffler but cannot currently find the 3" downpipe. The exhaust is on hold til I figure out which route to go.

The bad: Car has stock paint on the right side, bumpers, roof hood and trunk. The drivers side was keyed in 2001 and repainted. The repaint is shiny but the clear is delaminating. The car has never been wrecked (I bought from the orig owner in 2007) Marchal fog lamps hadn't had the covers off til I bought the car. Still have the covers in the trunk with a set of smoked headlight covers. The car has a dent in the pass door from a flying 2x4 in a tornado in 2009. Another door is included as well as a 88 TC hood with scoops jambed the correct color (I worked at a bodyshop for 8 years prior) There is rust scale at the bottoms of both front fenders from mudflaps installed new but no rust thru the underside is clean.

Ive tried to be as honest as possible about this car and it truly sickens me to sell it. In the photobucket link there's older pics with the holset HX35 fabbed up and some other mods. That was never completed and it sat with the T3 off it for 2 years in my garage. The ROH wheels are off it and stock 10 holes back on.

    $2500

What did you do with the ROH's? Clean car either way from one 86 TC owner to another. Did you replace the carpet?

The Roh wheels are on my dads 90 GT. I spent all weekend with a buffer and the paint looks phenomenal. Buffed, foam padded and waxed. Leather treated, interior vacuumed. Putting a 255 walbro in it later today as the stock pump is weak. No reason to change carpet as its in really nice shape.

Update. Stock exhaust welded on. Nice and quiet now. Forgot about a wheel bearing howl on the right rear. I may tackle that tomorrow at work. Good thing out dealership is kinda slow this week.

Another update. Motorcraft oil change, changed right rear axle bearing so diff service with friction modifier, and synthetic Mercon in the 5 speed. Drives so much nicer

Yes, that is correct. I commute daily about 20 miles each way so it's changing.

Must be nice to be a service guy, I would love to be able just to correct anything wrong with any of my cars! So envious! I just wish I had a buddy that was a service tech.
