    Default 302 .60 over?

Hi all, i ve searched some posts on google, other sites regarding a 90 302
mustang engine bored .60 over, has gt40 x heads, tfs stg1 cam, with flat tops, carb'd. I just bought this not knowing it was .60 over.. what kinda problems might i have besides cooling issues with the thin walls.

That's the main issue, plus they will be inherently weaker if too thin. Is it disassembled? I'd have the walls sonic tested. Generally I won't take a later model block more than .040", preferably .030". Now the earlier blocks are a different story, I've ran several mexican blocks at .060", some even hard blocked.

I agree. My brother's early block was bored .60 over and then he added a 331 stroker kit to produce 337 cubic inches. He's been building engines for 27 years on a daily basis and he'll tell you the same thing between an early and a late block. His '85 GT has been running 11.50's @ 120 mph for the past 4 years and he hasn't had any issues at all.

    Thanks for the Answers !
Hi Pete..is he running a later block in there? This is not a drag car..just fun daily driver. Just do not want to put it together and have an issue. Says it has 5500 k on it..i took it apart..looks good..cross hatch still in no ridge, piston top still clean..and no signs of heat issues. I did not know it was .60
    over.

I would be nervous about using and abusing that block. It might be fine, but the life isn't going to be as long as it should. I would have it sonic checked if you really want to use it.

His is an early block. I really can't advise you on if you're going to have issues or not. I'll let him know about this thread - maybe he'll chime in? His name is 306GT on this site.
