Rebuilt C4 Transmission - '79 Capri ?

My automatic transmission on my 79 Capri is unfortunately going out. I have called several transmission shops in the greater Seattle area and I'm getting some pretty pricey quotes... Anywhere from $1500-$2500 for rebuilding my current tranny or replacing with a used/rebuilt tranny.

I have also looked online at rebuilt & "remanufactured" transmission, but most of them don't have C4s that I need, or cost a fortune..

Any suggestions would be appreciated? Any DIY manuals that would be helpful if I went that route? Most people I talk to seem to think I should be able to get it swapped for under a grand?

Check with Performance Automatic about their Super Streeter C4.

I saw that one on there, but my capri is still completely stock. Is it even worth it to put that kind of transmission in? Or will it not matter in the long run?

As far as drivabuility, it won't make a difference, plus it will probably out last the car.
