Default How bad is it to have new coded keys made?

My dad bought a 2000ish V6 Camaro (pretty nice lil car and has all the SS stuff on it) but theres no key. Is it really just as simple as going to a GM dealer, showing proof of ownership and getting one cut? I know it won't be cheap but has anyone had a key done from GM?

I worked for the Chevy Dealer parts department after high school for around 6 months and it is a pretty simple process. Show ownership and the keys are yours for a price.

Glad you got your problem solved
