    Default Thee 2012 4-Eye BBQ Report, finally !!

    This has been a long time to get to post, but there was a issue with the BBQ website, which is now solved, so now all can enjoy the report and pics from the 9th annual BBQ in the Pacific Northwest. I was very late in getting this event together this year, and I feel bad about that...next year the flyers will go out months sooner, and for those keeping a calendar, the date is August 24th. The 2013 BBQ will be Thee one to attend, as it will be the last, I am sorry to say. Click on the link, and enjoy the read...but be ready for next year.

    What was left of Neil's house after the Knutson fam overdid it with the NW4IBBQ "Bottomless Crockpot o' Beans". Not to worry, we fixed things up with some baling wire and duct tape and... a shovel. Anyway, she's good as new now! (-;

    That's great Neil! It shows...I noticed it right away.

    I know how tough it is, I have lost 95lbs myself since the newyear and still looking at another 10-20 more to go.

    Keep going Nelson you look great!

    SEA-TAC is my whole bargaining chip, as her son still lives out that way!

    Previously posted by Neil:

    This event is a "home grown" event that is not sponsored by anybody, except yours truely, and a couple of good friends that help with the production in the form of making the copies of the flyers on company time, building and now fixing the website for the world to see all of us having fun, and my family that takes 2 vacation days from work to help old Dad do his project. This year is the 9th year running without a hitch, altho the event last year cost me a tenant at the field house, and 2 months lost rent.
    I don't have a full time job so I can apply my self to "starting over" each year with the flyers, invites, mowing, borrowing tables and sun shades, transporting 3 bbq's, building a cook shack / sun shade, begging the city not to shut me down cause I refuse to get a permit, researching new members to get their addresses so I can send the flyers / invites, and doing the follow up e-mails and registration confirmations when I recieve them. I got behind this year due to a healthy project I did on a friend's 66 Mustang coupe that took me 7 weeks to complete, but I needed the income to pay medical premeiums for insurance. I am also a property manager for rentals totaling better than 4 million $$. The event also lands on my wedding anniversary and I will be 60 yrs old too.
    On the flip side, I get so excited when the cars start rolling into the field that all the work just kind of fades, and the event is happening. I really don't understand this "4-eye-BBQ" thing...ie: you guys put fuel in your tank, get up at the wee hours to drive all the way here to mingle with other gear-heads and eat some great food, then go home with no trophy of any kind..I just don't get it...but it is fun.
    A 10 year run is a good thing, and I am willing to pass the baton to somebody that would like to take the reins and run it another 10 years...I promise to attend.
    Next year I will start much earlier, make more contacts ( IF they will give me thier information), and mabe try something a little different. Knowing that it will be the last will also motivate a few to get their cars back on the road, is what i have been told. I have hand addressed and mailed 100 invites in 2 days, and I really hope I can get to the new contacts also.
    All the new friends I have made with this event is something I will cherish the rest of my life. I hope all of this comes through with the right "tone'

    So picky! Lol. Next year I'm going to show up at about 4 am to make up for my severe tardiness this year. I may not have border services to blame, but I do have a woman to blame! Next year she can find her own way, because I'm not waiting around... thanks once again, neil and crew, for having us.

    Looks like fun. I see some of my fellow Canadians make it to the event. I'll have to see what's going on that weekend maybe I'll bring my car for a cruise down there. 86 mustang with a 351w in it. Last summer bought my wife a 86 T-Top. Might be a nice road trip.
