Mega Ford Race at Mission this weekend.

This weekend (Sept 8&9) Mission Raceway in Mission BC Canada is holding its annual all Ford event . The 2 day event included a number of drag race classes, as well a Ford only car show. We normally get cars from all over the Pacifc Northwest, mainly Washington, but also usually a few from Idaho, Montana, and Oregon, as well as Alberta Canada. We also have a couple of racers bringing up their 64 Comet & Fairlane Thunderbolt from California. Anybody from this site coming? I will be racing my 427FE powered 78 Fairmont, while a buddy will be racing my 85 Mustang LX HB. The weather forecast looks great all week thru Sunday, so come on down!!!

I zipped down from Kamloops to check that out today...sweet rides and some wicked fast cars!

I kinda expected there would be 2-3x as many cars tho ??? Spectators too...

I find it odd that we got racers from Alberta, Washington, Oregon, and Califiornia this year, and have had other from Idaho and Montana a couple of years ago, yet many of our local so called "enthusists" couldn`t be bothered to attend. The weather forecast was good, I just don`t understand the apathy. I have heard from a number of people who travelled long distances to attend, they all loved it, and plan to return if thereis another Mega Ford event next year.
On a personal note,I had a great weekend, my Fairmont almost matched its best ever numbers, with a 10.041ET, and I was runner up in the final round of the "FE Shootout", a race class for cars running the old (1958-1976) 352,360,390, 427,428 cubic inch FE Ford big block engines. There were 14 cars in this class, and although the FE engine was discontinued a couple of years before the FOX cars came out, I have been running 428 Cobra Jet engines in my Fairmont for over 20 years. And with my skinnier buddy (80 lbs lighter) driving my 85 Mustang hatchback (331 SBF, speed Jerico), he ran a best ever for the car, a 10.29ET at 128mph. He also made it to the final round of the 10.50 index heads up class, and also had to settle for a runner up. A pretty good weekend for both cars!

My work schedule change so I couldn't even go and watch. I had to swap out the worn out drag radials for the 4eyed BBQ for street tires. I'm not sure I could safely race the car with street shoes on as I found it a little loose on the street.
