Yes, The '83 Fairmonts definitely had that dopey steering wheel. I'm not sure if they started in '82 but I know for sure Ford installed those awful things in '83.

Here's an actual nice one - the interior and vinyl top look like they're brand new in the pics! http://southjersey.craigslist.org/cto/5098320897.html

Listed as a FWD manual, so I'm not sure the lister has any idea what the car is. Only asking $3K, which is a steal compared to some of the joke cars that have been posted in this thread.

And then there's this '79 Zephyr with a 460, asking price is only $13,000! http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/cto/5094788979.html

I wish I had pictures of it to post, but one of the nicest F/Z wagons I've seen for sale was in Texas about 3 years ago(it was posted here too); Antique White with woodgrain, Ghia wire spokes, and a set of Cadillac-style whitewalls with like a thin gold stripe besides the whitewall, and 5% limo tint all around. It sounds really "pimped-out", but it was just so-SO clean.

I don't know about the other ones in this thread but, I'd give $3000 for the current Zephyr in S.Jersey in a flash. That thing is sweet! Only things that would make it better would be red plaid interior and a 302.

$2000 for an '84 LTD LX, anyone? http://fredericksburg.craigslist.org...235403237.html

Only one picture, so it's hard to say what condition it's really in, but saw that in my CL browsing and thought someone might be interested.

Dang! And $2500 for this one!

Man, I can only imagine. I would've had SO much less work to do if I'd started with one of these instead of my wheezy 6-cyl Zephyr with all the STUPID little early Fox differences. Get an LTD LX while they're priced to sell!

I think I may have found a new winner for this thread: $11,500 for an '80 Zephyr wagon with 84k miles on it.

Well... that's impressively optimistic. It's a nice color, and has a cloth interior, so it's miles ahead of some. The wheels don't fit the vibe of the car though. Especially with the 6. Best of luck to 'im I guess...

Car also has a 9" with LSD & 3.73's. Only 60,000 Km on the odo, and was completely straight and rust free before the new custom paint in February of this year.

It would be hard to take most I've seen and make them this nice for what I am paying for this one.

I don't think most of us would take issue with that sort of $5k Fairmont, particularly in your location (where I have to imagine the supply is next to zero). That looks like a helluva car!

What are the wheels? They look like the classic Panasport Minilites, but I don't think I've ever seen those on a F/Z.

This thread is dedicated to the folks who want $$$ for a beat up, hodge-podge-of-parts boxtop just because it's a boxtop.

I think I recall that car being on the Vancouver CL, Dr. Matt. Yup, worth $5k+ IMHO.

Pretty sure the blue Futura is the car from Abottsford BC, it was on Craigslist, and I checked the car out at Mission Raceway, looked pretty decent, I think he was asking about $7500.CDN, Considering all the work done, 5 grand was a steal. (Keep in mind $5000. Canadian is about 4000 US.)

It is the car from Abbotsford. I have not picked it up yet, flying there on the 22nd to check it out & buy it. He was asking 7500cdn but I got it for a little less. Last time I ran the conversion it was $5,090us. Still haven't seen it in person and I can back out if it is not as good as advertised, but I don't see that happening. Seller seemed like a pretty straight shooter. I don't even know what the wheels are. In all honesty even if the wheels are crap it wouldn't be a deal breaker, but I kind of like them. Only issue is if I do a front 5 lug conversion I'll have to find some new fronts. Then it will suddenly become really important!

mcfairmont, if you saw it in person, anything you noticed that didn't look legit? All the pics he has sent me I have yet to "see" any real issues. Only problems according to the seller is the glove box latch and the door windows need new dew wipes.

Yeah, you definitely got a deal on that car! I talked to a guy before i started my project that said he was getting over 10k for SEFI swapped F/Zs. He had apparently done several.

I was not looking at the Futura as a potential purchase, (I already have more than enough "toy" cars), but I don`t recall seeing anything on the car that stuck out as being bad.

That's good to hear. Only thing I've seen is the battery mount in the trunk and some associated wiring there I'm going to want to clean up some. Glad you didn't notice anything.

^^When does the car hit your driveway? Looking forward to seeing your photos!

How did it work out with the engine configuration not being original to the car? That's always been one of my worries in importing from Canada. Did you handle the paperwork yourself or use an importer/broker?

I don't actually have it yet. Flying out tomorrow morning at 5:00 AM to Seattle, then drive to Abbotsford. I will check out the car and if it is all good, I'll buy it and try to drive back in to Washington tomorrow afternoon. I'll be taking pics tomorrow with the car if I do buy it. Wish me luck!
