Default Hemmings - Class on 1987 Ford Turbo Coupe

    http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2...pe/?refer=news

My father had one of these. It was either an 87 or 88. It was beautiful. It was Black with leather interior. I loved the red stripe that went around it. Check out the commercial in the link too.

    God bless

Wow man their horsepower numbers are way off. The '87 5.0 Tbird didn't make 150hp, where do they come up with this crap? If you're gonna be a journalist, you could at least do your homework. The automatic Turbo Coupe made 150hp because it came with less boost so it wouldn't grenade the trans. The 5.0 HO version was rated at 225hp just like the Mustang.

Thunderbirds and Cougars had the 5.0L engine available to them between 1983 and 1988. These were fuel injected engines. It was dropped in 1989. Then it was reintroduced in 1991 until it was replaced by the 4.6 in 1994.
    No longer visiting. Cheers.

I had an 85. I really liked that car, smoooth ride, accelerated quickly and handled well in the corners. Only issue was it kept giving me problems. It was 3 yrs old when I got it and I think it was a lemon.

Thunderbirds never received the 5.0 H.O. motor because Ford didn't want to take away any thunder from the Mustang/Capri line-up. The '83 thunderbird Turbo Coupe was named Motor Trend's Car of The Year in '83 due to it's then-radical styling mixed with comfort and handling, plus it's turbo-4 motor was the new "wave of performance".

A 5.0 optioned T-Bird even with it's non-H.O. motor was still a good driving car with adequate power, the V6 wasn't bad on the highway but lacked the low down grunt to be any fun in town.
