    Default Preserving polished Al

I have polished 10 holes on my car and I really like Mothers Billet polish to get them to shine. However, I want to know what you guys use to help protect and preserve once they are polished. I did one of my wheels the other night and after I applied some McGuires higher grade wax and it seem to dull the shine a little. What do you guys use?

I don't put anything on after it's polished. I did my pony wheels awhile back, and they look as good as the day I did them.

I was thinking that I had to be polishing them often to keep them shiny. But they're holding up just fine, I do make sure they're always clean though.

I also did my upper intake, that's looking awesome as well. No clears, no waxes, nothing.

I agree with the above. Keep them clean and just an occasional had polish with a little Mothers to keep them looking great.

I guess that means I have do the one I did over again. It has to be one of the most tedious jobs there is in detail a car. Hard to keep your focus

Sounds to me like you need Master Formulas sealer/gloss. Google it,buy it and thank me later. I've tried so many polishes over the years and yes Mothers is the best store sold product but its steps behind "Master Formula". The sealer/gloss will protect your wheels for months and give them even more of a shine. If you got the money get the polish also.

I've been looking at all sorts of products for a while and this seems to be the best I've found. I plan on using this when I polish a couple of sets of wheels.

I use Shine Seal on my CCW wheels. When done right it looks the same as a freshly polished wheel.

    http://www.shineseal.com/ Summit sells it too.

I start with red rouge and a buffing wheel to get the aluminum really smooth. Some wheels are already smooth enough that they don't need this step. The wax in the rouge builds up on the metal until it gets smooth. To remove the wax, I use a red paste polish or Mother's Chrome Polish. I use Mother's Chrome Polish for the final polishing. Yes, you heard right Mother's Chrome Polish works great on aluminum and plastic (and glass).
After polishing, I wax the wheels. Since I park all my rides outdoors, I touch up once or twice a year with the Mothers and a new coat of wax.

If you want permanent protection, one option is clear powdercoat. I haven't tried that yet.
