Actually, I can picture them best in a White Notch with a a tu-tone Black/blue dash hull, a 4pt cage and some big brakes and wheels. Now that would be killer.

There is a member here with a white notch and blue interior that these would look killer in

Here's another cog to throw in the wheel. I have a 1982 Ford Facts manual that was used by dealers to sell Ford cars back in the day. Attached is a picture from the options section in regards to Recaro seats being available in the Thunderbird. Anybody ever see Recaro's in a Thunderbird?

I think Chuck W had a Thunderbird with factory Recaro seating.

This is from the '80 Cougar brochure: http://www.lov2xlr8.no/brochures/mer...o/bilder/8.jpg

I've never seen a '80-'82 Cougar or Thunderbird that actually had the console and Recaros, but there must still be some out there that do.

One of my Mom's co-workers had an 80-82 T-Bird (don't remember the exact year) that was black with medium red interior and had Recaro's and a console, 255 and all the options. It was kinda cool for the time and I remember the seats had the Recaro word repeating in a pattern through the insert. He got hard up for money and sold it without telling me or I might have bought it from him. Never seen another one though.

Thanks for posting that link, I've never seen those before. I wish we could find some data telling us how many Mustangs, Capris, thunderbirds, and Cougars came with the Recaro option. I wonder what that would cost from Kevin Marti? I really like those cougar seats, I am surprised that it's a different pattern. All the others have the "traditional" zebra stripes.

Wow! I've seen that pattern on seats for sale on eBay (not ford recaros though), they are awesome. I like the idea of everyone knowing my seats are Recaro by the name being written over and over. I've never seen that pattern offered by ford. I wonder if they were factory original, or if he got them aftermarket? Too bad he didn't give you a heads up, the seats alone would be worth buying the car (plus you would have a sweet four eyed thunderbird).
    Cheers!

No the Recaro's in his Bird were from the factory. If I remember correctly his aunt or uncle ordered the Bird new when they worked for Ford at the Maumee, OH stamping plant. When he got it it still had the original spoked hubcaps and within a week he had cheap chrome rims under it.....I asked him what he did with the originals and he said he'd sold them to some kid at the tire shop for the tires. Think he said he got like $100 for all four, mounted and balanced rims, tires and hubcaps.....worst part was the family member he bought it from had just put them on like a month before!!! IDIOT!!! LOL

I bought a black with orange stripes 80 turbo rs Capri in 83 from the original owner with 22k miles. It had the caramel interior with recaro seats. It’s the only one I’ve ever seen with caramel recaros. I’m still trying to track it down.

While not a Ford option, the 84-86 ASC McLaren Capri had optional Recaro seats in tan, blue gray and maybe few more colors.

The Recaros were first introduced in the Mustang in 1979's Pace Car edition. From 1980-1982 Ford offered the Recaro in 4 different colors in both the Mustang and the Capri. The colors were black/white, Medium Wedgewood Blue, Caramel, and Medium Vaquero. The option cost was @ $900-$1000 add on so only the most affluent buyers could afford them.
