Capris with Recaros?

I just picked up a set of Capri dealer brochures from 1979-1986, and I didn't realize you could get Recaro seats in the Capri as well. I don't think I've ever seen a Capri with original recaros so I was wondering if any of you have them in your Capri, and if you could post some pics? One of the brochures shows them in Wedgewood blue, and I would love to see some actual cars with this color, but please post whatever you have.

Only one I can say that I've seen is Jeff(Capriman86) found and posted a early 80's Capri with low miles that is red with black/white Recaros... car is located close by him just sitting there rotting away

Recaro seating was available from '79 through '82 in the Capri and Mustang.

In '79 it was only in the Pace Car, as standard equipment. In '80 through '82 it was optional in just about everything else (not the base models some years, and not the Black Magic in '81). Depending on the model or package ordered, the Interior Accent Group was also required. And in the '82 GT, Recaro was available only in Black (Red was available on all other seat types).

According to the 1981 Capri brochure, you could get Recaro seats in black, wedgewood blue, and vaquero in all models except the black magic. In 1982, you could get them in all model of Capri except the base, and you could only get black recaros in the black magic (all other models you had the choice of black, medium wedgewood blue, and vaquero). For the 1982 Mustang, it doesn't say which colors are available, but it does show a picture of the vaquero recaros in the Mustang GT section so it seems like all Recaro colors were available.

Im not sure if they changed things after these brochures were printed to only have black as an option, this is just what I see in the dealer brochures.

I originally posted because I have never seen recaros (of any color) in a Capri, but they were available thru 1982? Where have all those cars gone?

I will go through the complete database later tonight and post how many Capris I have entered that have Recaros. I do know of one off the top of my head....a 1980 Turbo RS with black Recaros.

We have discused the 1982 Mustang GT brochure before and it ended up being a bit of misleading advertising. Let me see if I can find the link.

I'm still confused, but I wouldn't put it past Ford to post a pic of something that's unavailable. I would like to see that Capri with black recaros if you can find the pic. Does anyone out there have pics of a Mustang or Capri with vaquero, or wedgewood blue recaros?

My buddy has a set in his Capri Rs I believe it is an 80 or 81. 255 and auto but it is very clean.
Seats are black.

this is the actual car btw. It and quite a few montreal cars are used stock photos on the net from the meet at the Orange Julep

Thanks for posting Killingcivics! I can't tell from the picture, what color are his? Next time you see his car, would you mind taking a couple pics of the interior? I would love to see it.

IDMooseMan, vaquero recaros would look great in your car. I would just like to see those or the blue ones "in real life," even if it's just a picture of someone's car. All I've ever seen are black, and caramel (80CobraKid's and the set I just got). There have to be some cars left out there somewhere that have the vaquero or blue.

Well that's 1, anyone else have any?

My brother used to have a 82 capri, black recarro interior, the interior was flawless and beautiful.

I told him he was an idiot for selling it. If I remember right, Hooptie bought it.

gregpro50 has an '81 Cobra with Dark Blue and Black paint and Wedegwood Blue trim with Recaro seating, and it even has a factory non-turbo 2.3L and five-speed manual transmission. (Turbo engine was dropped in the US in mid-'81, and the five-speed was optional behind the 2.3L.)

I think gregpro50 has a second 1981 Cobra with Medium Blue Metallic Glow and Black paint and Wedgewood Blue trim with Recaro seating that noboost4me was selling as as a roller in 2010.

Where is that picture from? Is that a members car? I think those blue recaros are way cool. I would love to find a set of those, but then I'd have to buy another car to put them in (which is fine with me, but the wife might disagree). Bkoons, try and picture them in a mint cobra. Maybe white exterior with the blue stripes and blue cobra hood decal. That would be one great looking car.
