    Default Convertible Hydraulic line repair...?

Long story short.....Popped off the rear quarter panel where I heard guzzling from when I opened or closed the top. Sure enough, the bracket came off that mounts the convertible piston in place. The piston popped off and bent the fitting on the hydraulic line. It also stripped the female end of the plastic cap where the line screws into.

I tried threadsealing the line into the piston...wasted my time. I ordered a new hydraulic piston from Latemodel, they also want 100-something for the lines themselves, this is for the whole kit. I only need to repair one fitting on one line, doesn't make sense to buy the whole kit.

I tracked down the fitting from the gates website, but I've never messed around with hydraulic fittings before.

Is there any other alternative to repairing this line/fitting without buying a whole new hydraulic line kit?

I would think any local shop that deals with power steering could make you up a new hose. Around here the local NAPA can put together a high pressure power steering hose with whatever length and fitting you need.

Hmm..I'm gonna take a drive to a local auto parts store and see what they can do.

THe piston should be here tomorrow and I'm gonna try the pump without changing the fitting to see if it leaks. It appears as though the fluid is coming out through the threaded plstic cap on the piston itself and fitting is holding its own.
