Default ten hole tire question need answer fast

So I picked up a 89 4cyl beater to drive to work. It needs tires bad. It has ten holes and the original size is 225/60/15. I work in a tire factory and get discounts on tires but we don't make that size.

I checked online for tire size that are close that we make and come up with these
    205/65
    215/65
    215/60

Which should I go with? This car will never drive over 60mph. Its just to get better gas milage going to work 50 miles a day. Let me know thanks. Tires are all I need to start driving it

If those are your options I would personally go with the 215/60/15. I've got that size on the front set of my 10 holes. just a hair shorter then stock. The 215 65 will be farther off from the stock height then the 215/65 will be. Those will be taller then stock.

Actually slightly narrower. 215mm versus 225. Which is why they are a hair shorter despite having the sane aspect ratio, which is a calculation having to do with the wheel size and width of the tire to get your sidewall height. First number is width in mm. Second is your aspect ratio. A 10mm difference isonly going to be 5mm per side. Really not enough to notice. They might be 3/8" shorter then stock overall. Not enough to throw off the speedometer. The 65 series tire would throw off the speedometer a bit being taller then stock by a greater amount then the 60 series is shorter by. If that makes any sense to you.

I figured you would working for a tire company, but most people don't have a clue about tire sizing. I like to give reasons for things and explain them wherever I can. Hopefully somebody can learn something.

If your only goal is fuel mileage, the narrower tires have less rolling resistance.

If common sense was common wouldn't it just be sense?

215/60/15 all the way. Great little tire, only a little smaller and narrower than the 225, fits great on earlier cars, zero rubbing issues, and its cheaper.

When comparing different tire sizes, try to compare the same brand and type of tire as each manufacturer can vary a bit.

For comparison on a set of Kumho Solus

    225/60/15KR21: Overall height 25.6" Tread width 9.0"

    215/60/15KH16: Overall height 25.2" Tread width 8.7"

    215/65/15KH16: Overall height 26.0" Tread width 8.7"

All above are on a 6.5" wheel for measuring. Using a 7" wheel will alter the specs a little.

It can be hard to find the all three sizes in the exact same tire style, also in the Kumho Ecsta Lx line the 225/60/15 shows a tread width on 8.8" so even in the same brand of tires, the specs can change.

    Good Luck!

If you are looking for mileage...205/65/15...withing .13 inches of the 225/60/15 and the skinner tire will have less rolling resistance. Don't worry that it is too skinny, many of these came with 195 width tires on them.
