Cool 1983 Black Magic Capri Restoration *Lots of pics.

Well, first off, I want to thank Jeff (Capriman86) for posting the FYI ad for this car (I would have never looked for it on my own), and Matt (onetrackrider) for helping get the car
I have already taken 134 photos since I first looked at the car, a majority of them I took today
The car is a pretty nice car overall, just really dirty. The PO took the fender and doors off and scrapped them sadly.
It had a 351 4spd in it, but part of the deal was that a friend (the guy helping sell the car actually) got the motor.
The car will need another radiator support as someone hooked a chain to the bottom and "floored it"
I will be looking for a motor (locally), and nice black interior pieces. For once I don't want to dye one of my cars interiors lol
The PO got the car for $500 3yrs ago from the guy that my dad had talked to 3yrs ago. It was a very nice, sharp car. The guy never gave the PO the title, keys, or radio faceplate, so the car just sat I believe. Thankfully the car has not totally gone to waste.
You can get a better condition of the car from the pics. Some of the pictures are a little blurry, sorry. Most of the interior panels will clean up, but I might need quarters, a complete manual trans console, Black Majic manual door panels, and seat upholstery (will most likely find NOS material for it).

    Putting my SSP wheels on

Can't wait to get this one cleaned up and going again

Thanks! My dad really didn't have the money for the car, but we paid less than $500 for the car which I am thankful for.

Had a really nice clutch in it

The carpet and floor mats are covered in wet rat poop

Who can guess whats behind the bottom quarter piece?

The original carpet is pretty nice, just faded

Who likes the custom seat mounts?

If the drivers side ttop was epoxied so it wouldn't leak, this side wasn't, so this side doesn't leak!

Will need another windshield. Gonna find one locally

Probably the worst part of the car

I would like to find another set of these Marchals! There is only one on it. I might put a set of these on my 84 GT as well. They would go along nicely with the foglights

Finally someone brings a project car that makes me not feel so bad about mine, LOL. That is quite the undertaking. Congrats on saving that one. I am wondering if the seat supports are there because the floorpan sagged or cracked. Better check that over really well. I will have to go through this forum to find pics of other Black Magics. I'm not really sure what the deal was with them. And they made WHITE BLACK magics? LOL. Sounds like Ford (Mercury).

I was thinking of getting enough to do two sets of front seats, and the rear seat, and then getting all the black vinyl if a local shop doesn't have the exact same stuff.

LOL, this car is perfect compared to my 84 GT and my dads 84 RS. They both need everything! This one is much much nicer than them, but my SSP was the nicest one I have aquired so far. The car had some bucket seats out of a different car, so they just bolted the seats to the wood blocks and bolted the blocks to the factory seat mounts, the wood wasn't good to the studs though. If my dads camera was with me, I would be posting more pictures of the progress I have made so far

I think battery holder too, since the fiberglass one is gone. I thought it was something to hold the bumper on lol, have to check when I see the car again

    Default Plans for the car.

Ok, so before I over load this thread with pics of progress, here is what my plans are right at the moment.
It will go back to the original BM livery, with the black/yellow interior.
I want to find (or make) 85-86 SSP wheels, and might paint a set of center caps gold to compliment the BM package.
    It will get a 1983 motor and a 4spd
I will also have two sets of seats. One set will be the original style low buckets, and the second will be a custom set of Sport seats. The sport seats will be black vinyl on the back and sides, black cloth on the front outer spaces, and in the center section will be the yellow material. I think the seats would be a nice touch.

The car will look brand new on the inside and outside when I'm done with her

    New progress pics
    Started cleaning the dash

    Stripped the interior plastics

Ttop weather stripping is actually really nice and no rust!

    Perfect

    Original spare and jack

One ttop is original, the other isn't (the far one)

At first, I was like what are these and who drilled holes in the dash to add them?! But then I figured out they were for the vents, no A/C

The visors cleaned up nice (top one was gone over with magic eraser, bottom is untouched)

    It's a fox roundup!

    Looks much better with this
