Default Mustangs at the Beach, 2012

    mcfly:

As an entrant who paid $90 to participate in last years "MCA National" Mustangs at the Beach, and who endured an incredibly awful and inept judging experience I am not inclined to return to this years version. Last year with my Original Owner and just over 15K Original mile 1986 SVO, which several FEP site members know first hand and can vouch for it being a very, very good example of the model, I had judges who didn't know that SVO's don't have "Black" Window and Door trim for example.

Nothing personal but for if you want to attract more "Fox Mustangs , I believe that having judges who truly know the Fox Mustang platform and it's many variants is essential. That clearly was not the case last year.

Just my thoughts based on actual experience

I have to agree with you on the judge problem it was not up to par as well as a few other things... Not to make excuses but the MCA had their problems last year with a large portion of judges parting ways days before the show and showed up undermanned...As far as knowing the fox platform I do know Jim Silverman was there (he certainly knows Foxes) but he might have been the only one judging that did...Tom Shaw was also there and took many pics (foxes) There were also problems with participants not know MCA rules which made things tougher,Cars moving spaces and also leaving before 5 on judging day to name a few..One thing I realized during the show was how nice and accommodating the out of towners were. A few of my fellow Long Islanders were a handful.. It was also a first time show so some mistakes are to be expected and many unexpected problems (like a local locking the gates to get in on Sat. Morning, with no key in site, setting everything back )...Don't know much about this show yet, but hopefully some of the problems will be addressed...
My biggest problem was the traffic but thats part of living on the Island I guess

I think I will be a spectator this year...besides MacArthur Airport is that Sunday

    mcfly:

I appreciate your reply to my post - I had corresponded with teh MCA' Mr Silverman regarding my awful judging experience and was very dissatisfied with his responses. Until he was actually presented with evidence, my judging sheets, as to the ineptitude of the judging team for my SVO he tried to use every possible "strawman" or "You may have been in the wrong class"defense possible. Further he never once mentioned he was on-site at the show and he never mentioned that they were short of Qualified judges. He may be a fine chap to those who know him , but I am unimpressed with his handling of my inquiry.

Also $ 45 Dollar entry Fee and you ( anMCA Member ??) are not inclined to enter your Fox . That gives me a chance for pause. Maybe I'll pass this year .

Thanks for your reply to my post . It is sincerely appreciated.

The capri will be in the "other" ford powered cars class.... They - unfortunately will never get judged with the real mustang classes as they are not mustangs. Unless something has changed since the last time i was in one.

I may be up for this show this year. I wonder why they slashed their registration prices this year? Not complaining...

I was a spectator last year. Definitely a great show & location.

    Mike:

This years Mustangs at the Beach is only a Local MCA Show not a National Show as was last years.

Thus the reduction in price from $75 to $45.

As my previous posts indicated - I have second thoughts as to entering based on last years experience.

That said it would be fun to go with you and perhaps some more of the Bellmore / OB Cruise night Four Eye Guys . Plus Kyle could enter the TC and join in !!

I'll have to give it some thought . Kyle agrees - if "Mike and the Four Eye Guys go - then we should go with our two cars" is how he is looking at it.

Let me know what you think

    mcfly:

    Question:

Since the "Capri's" are in fact Four Eye / Fox "Cousins" shall we say -

Why does the Local club , who wants more Fox Body cars , make a separate Class for them???

Pardon my ignorance on the subject

    Mike:

Are you going to enter a "Judged Class" or "Popular Vote" category ??

I need to check on what Judged Class or Popular Vote options the TC might have.

I will do that( or attempt to ) today

While I will have time to get the TC Trim done - I won't have either Time or $$$ - to have the Nose or rear bumper of the TC repainted.

I don't want to put Kyle at a disadvantage to start his show season.

    Mike :

That is my initial thought regards the SVO - Probably in an "Unrestored Driven" Class - Where the car would have a reasonable chance.

BUT I need to know what Class or Pop Vote options would be good for Kyle- Don't want him entering the TC and finding out he will have to go up against 1955-57 T-Birds - Or something equally difficult . Just wouldn't be right.

I.m sure you would agree !
So lets see what mcfly finds out.

Ok hopefully this will answer some questions..

This is a regional show so the judging will not be concours it will be the MCAs modified rules.. More what you are use to when you go to a judged show(appearance, cleanliness etc..)
    Only Mustangs will be Judged..
I asked about Capri's and most agreed we should do something about them..Going to have to get back to you on this. Depending on how many register they will either have a class,be lumped in with the Foxes,or nothing at all..

As far as Kyle's TC goes he can do a pop vote or display only but it is not going to get judged..
This is what I was told and am sorry if there is confusion in the form regarding what cars will be judged(ford powered, other ford cars,etc..) only Mustangs as of now..

Being this show is a regional show it will be a little more relaxed I would think..
I believe there will be media and some mags. there again so there is always a chance to get pictured..Two cars in Mustang Monthly this month are from last years show..

    Hope this answers some questions
