Thanks for the compliment. Over all this swap has gone much smoother than I really expected. Most of the fabrication I have done was due more to not having the cash for the swap pieces already in existence. I have spent more on maintenance items for this swap than I have for the hard parts. While a lot of this seems well planed out, most of the time I get an idea and work out the details while I'm in the process of the work. That and a bunch of luck.

The trip is more about the journey than the destination..................

Car looks awesome. Coming along nicely. I would love to hear what people say at cruise-ins. Is that a FE? 351 Cleveland? Y block, LOL. Hardly anyone who is attending cruise-ins these days has a clue what that lump is. Such an original idea. Very creative.

Thanks Homer. Some day I hope it will look as nice as your GT.

I was not able to use the MM steering shaft in this build. I needed a longer shaft so I ordered this.

While I was working on the steering, I rebuilt my tilt column as well. I used a column out of an 87 Mustang for parts and one thing I noticed was definitely different was the pivots on the 87 are considerably longer than they are on the 81.

I also used the 87 upper mount to give me more adjust-ability.

It's amazing just how much our columns are able to collapse.

I will get some more pics of the finished product this weekend.

    Beautiful work!
I have a 400 on the engine stand and a C4 in the floor all ready to be rebuilt and slipped into my 81 Futura.
    So you are using a 96 (SN95) K-member?
Do you know what control arms and spindles you are using yet?
I like the idea of dropping the engine lower in the bay to clear the hood, I really don't want to add a scoop, it clutters the clean lines.

Look forward to the completion of your Capri!

Thanks, it has been a lot of fun trying to figure everything out. To keep power brakes, I used an 87 booster. The 81 hit the valve cover.

    Yes, I'm using a 96 k-member.

At this moment I'm running stock fox arms. When I upgrade to 5 lug, the sn95s are going in.

Did you rebuild the 400 or just hoping it runs?

The 400 I installed I obtained for free and was intended as a mock up engine. Once I had it in the car I figured what the hell, I may as well see if it runs. My plan is to rebuild it while adding some performance items.

Les, the 87 column mount has slotted bolt holes while the 81 did not. The slotted holes allows the column to be shifted either direction a little farther than what would be possible with the 81 mount.

Not yet. I've moved and have other things that are requiring my time at this moment. Life sometimes gets in the way of the fun.
