Where were these autos at all these years ?
Just a lot of unwanted chevys ha ha
I would rather be juged by 12 than carried by 6
I watched part of the coverage they had on the History channel. These cars sold for what I thought is absolutely stupid amounts of money, considering the condition they were in. I'm afraid now every guy who let their car sit out in a field for 30 years neglected is going to think there sitting on a pile of gold. Sure, some of them think that now, but this is only going to fuel their delusion.
Cars:
1991 Mustang LX Notch 4.6 Tremec 5 speed
1995 Ranger XLT 4.0 4x4
1985 Ford LTD SSP: 5.0HO, AOD(Sold)
1971 Mercury Comet GT: 302 4bbl, T-5(Sold)
Bikes:
1967 Triumph T100c
1976 Kawasaki KZ400(Sold)
1964 BSA Hornet
1972 Rickman
I saw one vehicle I might've been interested in, a Viking 40 series truck with 7 miles on it. It was passed (not sold) lol. Other than that, I agree with wvragtop.
I concur doctor
I would rather be juged by 12 than carried by 6
Hmmm. Many of those did go for some stupid money. 140,000 grand for a Cameo pickup? I know those carry some additional value as far as pickups go, but holy crap!
+1 on that Viking! Drop a Screamin' Jimmy Detroit Diesel in it, and it'll be a Screaming Viking!
Couple of decent International Harvester pickups there too!
I'm thinking that the Falcon Club Wagon van for $1350 has to be one of the better deals of the show.
I'll bet that those cars and trucks will take as much or maybe even more work to restore, than many vehicles which have lived full 100,000+ mile lives. If the NOS parts weren't kept in a heated environment, then many of them are in need of restoration, too.
I think some of those buyers were paying that extra premium, just to be a part of the story.

I wouldn't mind having a brand new 1978 Corvette Pace Car, that's one of my all time favorite Vette's. One again, I'm just glad rich people had something to spend their money on.
Cheers!

The History Channel is getting ready to re-air the auction in just a few mins, 12:00 EST. I predict a few of these cars(and trucks) will appear in Hemmings Motor News over the next couple of months, after a thorough detail, for even crazier money.
I think my all-time favorite was that Candyapple Red '63 Impala. I think it went for 97 Large
Where else on the planet are you going to find a Chevy Cameo with less than 2 miles on it? That's why it brought so much money.

16k for a corvette peddle car is stupidity at its finest.
I think Rutledge summed it up well when he was talking about maybe bidding (did he?) on an old truck. He said he'd have consider that he could get a running truck for 5000 elsewhere. Was the mystique of the Lambrecht cars really worth the premium?
Dan
1985 Lincoln Continental. T-5, Bullit wheels, Mustang springs and Hybrid Lincoln/Mustang control arms, 8.8 w 3.27s, Cobra swaybar, adjustable struts and shocks....
$110.00 for a rubber ball........... COME ON!!!!
It's not just wanting to have an additional story to tell (the vehicle coming from Lambrecht), but the pull of being the first owner, claiming one owner on a car like this. "One owner" has a certain pull and connotation. I think that's a huge draw to a lot of collectors.
I went through about 3 pages of the cars and ONE guy bought at least 100 cars including the Cameo/Impala, I saw a few that went for $5,000 I would have bought.
1986 Saleen #26 - Saugus Pace Car
1988 Range Rover Classic - The Shop Truck
What is the history Channel calling the show?
'Wheels of Fortune' (History Channel site says 'Premier Event').
It will air again someday.
27k for a hi mile junk 69 SS Chevelle?
3k more would have got that way nicer 64 wagon.
The C70 has potential. Larger trucks are expensive.

That Chevelle was a total piece of junk. I laughed at the guy who bid up to $25,000.00 and lost the bid. He wanted it for the drivetrain to complete the 69 Chevelle he had at home. For 25 grand he could have bought a real decent 69 big block Chevelle NON MATCHING # CAR. Or a complete brand new drivetrain for his 69 includng a crate big block. I think alot of people way overpaid money for these cars. Who knows if the engines, transmissions, rear ends are any good. Ever see a ring gear thats rusted so bad from not sitting in the oil for 40 years. The bottom half is always good and the top half not so good. Alot of people will be suprised once they get them home and really start looking them over.

1986 G.T. (Son's car) (12.99-105 mph)
These are people with money to burn, they don't care how much any of these items cost. They live in a different world from a lot of us (myself included). As long as they are happy, I'm happy.
Cheers!

I agree. Rutledge and Tanner did a good job. I'm sure that Brian Unger did his best.
I'm glad that I did not go to the auction. As an event, it would have been cool ---- but there wasn't anything that I really wanted. I have no connection to Lambrecht ---- so I'd have problems justifying the extra dollars.
The car that I saw that would have been highest on my Want List would have been the Vega ---- but I'd rather have a mint one that I can actually drive (now and then).
I think that Rutledge seriously wanted to buy something. I think that, when they asked him to host the show, he said that he would if he could get off of the stage and go bid when he saw something that he liked.
I agree. It wasn't worth a dime over $95.00.
I actually saw a 77 Vega Camback wagon that was bought there and trailered back to Tulsa last night. The new "proud owner" is thinking he's going to get the 1.7 original mile car, that has sat outside in the elements in a dirt field, fired up and drivable........then as he stated "probably double or even triple my money". Yeah, ok.......keep in mind he was willing to share that he paid $4500 for it!!!!! More power to him!!!
