If I am not mistaken that color name is "Indian Fire Red".
I was thinking the exact same thing. If that car is solid you could easily turn around and sell it for more than you are asking for your 86. With that in mind though, you have to ask yourself why this guy isn't selling it for more than what your trade to him is worth? It may be that he just loves your vert but it may also be because he knows something about the Mach and has some splainin' to do. From my perspective, I really love the Fox Mustangs over those first gen ones so I don't know if I would necessarily do it from a driving enjoyment standpoint. I would only do it if I felt I could flip potentially flip it for some scratch.
Here's just one link for comparison:

You could potentially have a great deal on your hands. Another thing to keep in mind is that this may not be a real Mach 1 as clones and "tribute cars" of this generation are fairly common. Make sure you go through approrpiate due diligence with investigating car. Even if it is a clone though, it should potentially be worth more than the $6.5K you are asking once it id freshened up. Good luck!
yes..good point..is there any way to check the vin codes without going for a Marti Report...just to verify Mach1 status?

It is a real mach and Id say its worth 12-15 grand so it wouldnt be an even up trade....nada has it at 20 low retail...
Well, there you have it. I would assume this is your car. Would you expect his 86 and cash or something else? The deal would not seem quite as tasty as initially thought! Good luck with the trade!
I got a $100 bill. Trade for 4 $50s
I thought you needed a hundred posts to put stuff in the for sale/ trade/wanted areas?
Somethings fishy, a 69 mustang mach 1 or sports roof NICE ROLLER is worth a nice fox body 24-7 365 mustang in my opinion. Go check it out, what have you got to lose?

You guys are great, so far all of the info provided has been correct - 63C , not coming with spoilers !
MY GUESS is the car can't pass PA inspection for the guy, he doesn't want to get into a high dollar build (it costs the same to do a 428 body as a 351)!
This isn't a bad car especially if the inside is as untouched as the outside. IF it is all there it is just a matter of rebuilding everything or refurbishing stock parts.

can't do it...i was confused with him just asking "take trades...I have a 69 mach 1". I just assumed he was looking to trade straight up...my mistake.
Anyway, to buy that at 15,000 and get it presentable would be at least another 10,000. At resale you'd break even...
I am actually looking now at a 66 fairlane...at least it's still a 4 eye ford...haha

If you end up looking at a Fairlane (like this) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/?cmd=...1313%26_nkw%3D
And can take photos - I am trying to help a friend that is working on a 1966 Conv that the owner wants AC installed.
We are trying to see it the front radiator support is different , if the condenser is specific to 390 cars and if the grill supports are different!

P.S. Would pay for time, lunch in Carlilse or NOS Fox parts !
Did I miss something? No where did I read anything about additional money, or did I just miss it? I was under the impression this was an even trade as well.
I think we all knew that an older Mustang like that would be worth more money than a 4I. But if the condition of the older Mustang is poor, than it gets closer to the value of a 4I that is in great shape. Since there was a lack of pictures, and information, we/I felt the condition of the older Mustang must have been less than perfect making this trade closer to equal. Then it came down to if you would rather have a classic older Mustang, or a nice 4I. Also if you had the means to make the older Mustang worth something.
I guess this is another example of sometimes it is hard to communicate with out facial expressions, tones, ect. and communication gets lost without face or phone time.
Miscommunication, I guess. No harm, no foul.

bull-vette..you are 100% correct! I would have thought that if he was looking for cash + my car..he wouldve said so...usually when someone is the seller- the buyer asks if he would take a trade + cash.
very unusual that someone would ask you to trade and expect you to kick in more money on your own sale?? unless explicitly saying so.

Hi
Don't want to "hi jack" thread - but since you guys are asking here...It is the radiator support (need to see AC condenser mounts) OR HOLES (if a parts car).
Trying to see if the 289 is different than the 390's, different grill mounts (maybe)
Will PM my email too
