Another change...the cell phone. Back in the 80's, when you were driving, you were free. Today, the phone, although has a lot of positives, is a big negative too. I know, I know, just turn it off or ignore it, but its not the same..
How true, I recently drove to Michigan and back in 4 days by myself. I turned off the iphone and listened to sat radio and ipod the entire way. Aside from my wife bitching at me at night when I hit the hotel I was back in the 80's. Especially when I would look in the rear view mirror and see this...

I must confess the same happens here! I have an ipod that connects to the original electronic Premium Sound unit via cassette tape and it sounds so much better in the vert. I graduated in '84 and drove a '82 GT...now that I think about it I installed an electronic Premium Sound unit in that car, as well as seats and dash components from an '86 GT...LOL! Heck, now that I think more about it, I have seat time in the 85 vert I have now from back in the late '80's...purchased from original owner who is a very good friend of mine. Cell phones were around back in the late '80's...remember the big Motorolla units with the rubber whip antenaes.

Most of my music is metal from the 70's and 80's! lol

Even though I have a headunit that will play MP3 files on a CD I never use it. I have all 60Gigs of my Music on my 160Gig ipod.

I have Blues, Jass, rock, classic rock, metal, very little rap (beastie boys) and R&B, vocals.... on my iPod.

Def Leppard has to be on the playlist in my car. Usually Pyromania because it was released in 1983.

Sometimes but mostly i just listen to the car/engine. I don't like drowning out that sound with music because i'm always paying attention to how the car sounds just in case something sounds off.

Nothing better than rocking VH's Hot Summer Nights or Cabo Wabo in my 86 GT with the t-tops out. That is something that will never get old and will live for till the day I die.

I feel old. I graduated in 1979 and my Ghia is a 1979. She has the factory AM/FM Stereo Radio with 8-Track Player. When I saw that, I got so excited...and I just can't hide it (oh, wait, I'm having a flashback)...all better now.

Anyone have any 8-Track tapes they want to get rid of? I wonder if I can convert my old LPs to an 8-Track tape to play in the car. I have to get the unit working first, but that's another story.

The collection in all my vehicles is over 1800 80's songs. And that's only scratching the surface. There were over 4,200 songs in the Billboard top 100 list between 1/1/1980 and 12/31/1989.
    No longer visiting. Cheers.

My Ipod has roughly 4,500 songs on it, mainly the genre of music we have been discussing, almost all of which were culled from these cds:

With over 6 thousand cds in my collection my cruising tunes vary but my 84GT never leaves the house without some early Simple Minds in it,just something about early SM and that car that fits perfect
one of my favorite cruising songs & my dream Synth is used on this track the OBX-8

I didn't have a cell phone until the mid nineties, but my mustang actually had one installed during it's first year. I bought my 86 in 87 from the original owner, who had one of those fancy mounted ones (for the time). I still have the little mounting holes on the right side of my center console. I remember he was replacing the mustang with a new mercedes convertible. I've often thought...I bet that mercedes isn't still around anymore! he he..
