Thanks for posting Chris! Would you trade up if you found one similarly equipped but also with Recaro seating?
Sweet! Thanks for posting the Marti! Late production run too! Do you have any pics?

Thanks guys! Mick, you know I'll always consider trading up... but honestly, I've looked for a long time and never seen another black one and with any luck I'll be tearing into this one pretty soon... once that happens, it's all down hill from there! And here's a teaser, she needs work but is super solid!

Welcome back to the early Cobra fold. Congrats Chris.
Watch that front nose on those parking block. I can't believe you cleared that thing.
Your car looks solid. What color graphics did it have or are you planning? I recall seeing black with only green on 80-81's. Always wondered what red or blue would look like.
It's not the blocks you have to worry about at stock height but the rebar spikes sticking out can cause havoc. I drove over one with my S10 (which is lowered) and didn't know I hooked a bar, RIP, tore the lower valance right out backing up.
Looks like a good start Chris! Hows the inside?
That front nose will be replaced, the plastic is getting weak and I want a new one with a little stronger form to it.
This car, being a red interior car originally, very likely came with red graphics. It also appears not to have been ordered with the hoodsnake as it's not shown on the options list. Red graphics over black was fairly common on the '80-81 Cobras.
All of that said, the whole reason for finding an original black '81 Cobra T-Top is because I wanted a black/green graphic T-Top with recaro seating. So this car will receive the full green graphics treatment, pacecar/cobra style recaro interior and look basically stock all the way around. Rolling stock is yet to be decided. The current interior is a mix of black parts including a nice set of flo-fits that will be sold off.

Very cool score! Congrats on adding to the stable. I can't wait to see what you do with it. I was going to say I have a pair of red 81 door panels in VGC but if you're going to a black interior then you wouldn't have a need for them!
I like the wheels and would be interested in picking them up if the event you sell them.
You going to be home around Christmas....

Congrats! Did you have any idea that it may have been a Cobra when you picked it up? From the outside, it looks like either a '79 Pace Car or an '82 GT but with the primer, ground effects, and sail panel changes, the original identity was concealed. Nonetheless, I can't wait to see it when it's done!

Joe, I honestly can't believe that I found it before you found yours. I figured I'd never find my black T-Top Cobra.
Pete, I knew what it was I emailed the owner, and asked for all of the verification. He sent me the buck tag, door tag, and VIN. The buck tag confirmed CBR, and door tag that it was a real T-car... from there my goose was cooked. It's actually super solid and straight as well, but will be completely restored anyway. All stock appearing... power may not be stock. That's a secret for now though
