My problem is I can't get the wheels off. The car has seen very little use for the last several years, averaging <300k per year, for at least the last 15 years, and the wheels have not been off for at least that long. Now that I want to remove them, I have found that the anti theft "key" for the wheels is broken. The raised portion that sits in the nut spins inside the body of the key. Does anyone have any ideas on how to remove these locks? Would this key still be available through a dealer?

I had the same problem with my 85 Coupe when I bought it in 2003. The P.O. lost the key. I used an Irwin Bolt Extractor properly sized to the locknut. I think I bought mine at a local home improvement store.

I whacked it on with a mallet and loosed it with a breaker bar.

    Good luck.

I've been thinking about painting mine and after seeing yours my mind is made. Think I'm going black with polished centers and lip.

In the end I had a neighbour offer to weld the key back together, so it now works fine. Had to use an impact gun to get this one nut off though. Here are some shots before and after, and one of the car.

Someone had mentioned 10 holes in Anthracite..
Not a great pic but you get the idea.
My wheels are anthracite with polished centers. (How I bought it.)

    Canpaul,

Did you just strip & polish or did you also clearcoat too? They look great!
