    Default aftermarket radio question

Hey yall this may be a dumb question but is the electrical system in my 1985 mustang gt able to support an aftermarket stereo?

yes, you can just get a harness adapter or cut the wires to add on the harness for whichever radio you purchase.

    amps and subs, no.
the stock 85 alt can barely keep the battery charged let alone power other things, if u want to use big power upgrade to a 3G alt or a stock style high amp output alt found of other cars.

I also had to trim the radio openning slightly to get an aftermarket unit in. I spliced into the original wire harness and deleted the stock amp. Works well enough with new speakers. No ground pounding for this guy. I have two kids that rattle all the windows when they get home. Rotten kids.

of course i got a 86 lx wiith a dual audio head unit and 2 6X9's with a Sony Xplode 12in sub woofer, run by a 400 watt mtx amp, bridged, with a coustic crossover, the hatch really lets the sub breath and sounds deep
