    Default GT Turbo?

Was this a production car, or someone's frankenstein creation?

I never heard of a GT Turbo...

Nope, it's not a "frankenstein" creation. It's the real deal. The GT Turbo cars were production models for the 1983-84 model years. Looking at the auction listing, it has the "W" code in the VIN, which denotes the 2.3L Turbo 4 Cyl engine. The car also has the "GT Turbo" markings just ahead of the doors and the trunk lid.

I've got one - take a look at my photo album for a closer look at one.

The '83 models are much more rare than '84. Plus there were no convertibles in '83. First ones were produced in March of 1983, or about seven months after regular '83 production started.

Thanks. I've seen pics of your interior before in another thread.

Pretty interesting...I didn't know about these.

Do you also own a 350Z, or are you just parked next to one?

Oh, okay. Did they stop production due to poor sales?

Yeah, I think low sales killed it, just like the SVO. Low sales for both of the turbo models were, I think, due to higher price and less power than the same hatchback or convertible with a V8.

According to the Red Book and the FBMRG...

    1983 GT (5.0L) = $9,449.00
    1983 Turbo GT = $9,714.00

    1984 GT (5.0L) = $9,774.00
    1984 Turbo GT = $9,958.00
    1984 SVO = $15,585.00

    1984 convertible GT (5.0L) = $13,247.00
    1984 convertible turbo GT = $13,441.00

    And the horsepower/torque ratings...

    1983 GT (5.0L) = 175/245
    1983 Turbo GT = 145/180

    1984 GT (5.0L) = 165/245 (CFI)
    1984 GT (5.0L) = 175/245 (4V)
    1984 Turbo GT = 145/180
    1984 SVO = 175/210
