    Default SVO body shop updates

The SVO is currently getting repainted to better than new condition. She was stripped down to metal and everything that had any sort of small imperfection was replaced. Just the parts list alone has cost me a small fortune but in the end will be well worth it. It will have all new weatherstripping to include dew wipes and channel runs, headlights, outer and inner parking lights, tail lights, body moldings, repop fiberglass hood from LMR, rockers, battle boxes, subframe connectors, SVPU reproduction Headlight adjuster brackets and SVPU reproduction Header panel and I am sure there are pieces I am forgetting about. For body work the shop repaired the broken mounting tabs on the bi wing, cut out and rewelded in new areas around the hatch area and door bottoms and obviously stripped the whole thing down to metal. Here are some pictures of progress.

Everything should be lined up as far as body parts go, but every time I think that something else seems to pop up. So I may or may not be taking you up on that offer.

I hope your yanking my chain? I have the factory wheels sitting in my shed. One day when I decide to put it back to stock every factory part I have ever taken off of it are out there. Instead of modifying a factory piece I have always bought a second part to port or cut up for my purposes. Its hard to leave these things stock, when I bought it 9 years ago it seemed fast until I took it to the track and it ran mid 15's ugh.

I'm talking about the wheels in the first pic you posted...I forget what year(s) they were offered. I wasn't referring to the factory SVO wheels.....

I bought them off a 01 GT. I have run into many SVO nazis who hate on my car for the things I have changed and who try to call me out on them so its easy for me to go into defense mode.

That looks awesome! You are definitely doing it the right way ny stripping it all down. Then you know what underneath after all those years. When I stripped mine down, there were quite a few crusty places that needed some attention that would have been missed with a standard repaint. That should be a real beauty once it's all finished up.

Forget about the SVO Nazzies, it's your car, your money, your enjoyment. I have three SVOs, one I'm about to start a project like yours. Also, the 01 GT rims look great on the SVO. I have the same set plus a set of Bullet rims for the SVO. I don't think you'll find a better look for our cars. Good luck with everything and keep up with the pics! Cheers!!

Most of the other SVO's I know of are modified. But I was just saying that I have had quite a few guys who have been not so nice to me about my car and when you posted that my rims were the best looking stock rims for an SVO I just went straight to the assumption that it was a snide comment. Once you had mentioned that you meant out of all stock rims available for Mustangs it made more sense...I appreciate all the comments guys and will be posting updates as they come along. Over the winter I have a new engine in the works, not that the old one is bad but I am looking to build something in the 400rwhp range and dont feel like tearing into the factory short block. So look for updates on that as well, I am still in search of a decent block to start with at this time.

Alright, everything on the car is painted except the front bumper. Should have some pictures up this weekend. The front bumper wont get paint until SVPU finishes up the header panel, the shop is scared the bumper will flex to much without it in there and jack up any fresh paint.

Just got off the phone with SVPU and the header panel should be getting sent out soon, they are trying to find a reasonable shipper for me. Great guys to do business with, I ordered my headlight adjuster brackets from them and they are top notch so I have no doubt the header panel will be too. The factory used pieces go for around or more than they charge for brand new pieces that have alot of the factory flaws fixed, so its an easy decision if you are willing to wait a few weeks for fab time.
