Me and Nelson just shipped 4 TRX wheels, and they were a cast wheel with a smooth finish, not the record groove finish like the 79 wheels on my Capri. The wheels came off a 83 GT. The ovals were a "sand-cast" finish, not smooth with sharp edges like the 79 wheels, and they weighed 6 pounds more.
All of this brings me back to having someone make a 16 inch re-pop of the TRX wheel in both 4 and 5 lug, with new center caps... I would mount them on my Ranger in a heart beat !!

Neil, I wonder if the wheels you had on the 83 look like these wheels. These are 83 TRX

Notice the extra 'beef' in the center as opposed to the D9 Wheel Below

Yes, they were the later model wheel with the extra beef, like the pair above.

I wonder, and just a hypothesis, did Ford make the 'extra beef' on the E3 Wheel because of more power and Torque? 83 they went to 175 HP? Just a guess, I just wonder why they would add the extra strength??

I would hope someone would not do that. Sell something as refurbished as NOS. I will be dropping off the other pair soon. Thanks for looking

Gregg it is good hearing from you. I have not heard from you in awhile. Hope all is well! Did you ever find the NOS Exhaust Tip for your Cobra? I would think that either the DA wheel or EA wheel would be correct for your Cobra. Take care
