Ok, last night I finished up the outter & bottom of the passenger side frame rail.

And tonight I worked on the area under the brake booster on the driver side frame rail:

Again, welded in - just need to grind down:

I'll spend the next bunch of time sanding / cleaning up the rest of the engine bay so I can spray back to factory color. So no picture updates for a while....

    Enjoy - JT

Long time since I updated so here goes. The engine bay has under gone some additional clean up work:

Worked on the driver side floor. First grind down all of the old spot welds and hit with weld-thru primer:

Then fit the pan and trim excess metal. Also need to drill holes along rocker panel and to the subframe for roset welds:

Then go to town with the welder....

And finally, fixed the lower cowl area with a patch panel:

And here is how she sits as of tonight

    That's all for now.

You are doing a great job on one of my favorite years of mustangs. I am curious to know what gauge metal did you use one the frame rails?

Yes and no. Fall cleanup and Turkey day holiday have slowed the progress. I've got the passenger floor pan almost done. Engine bay is the same. Started converting some aero HB doors, getting ready to transfer the guts and some support metal to the new driver door. I did pickup paint for the bay and hope to spray soon.

I'll post pics once some of the sub-projects are done...

Thanks Paul - seeing your Black 82 at the fall MU show lit a fire under my butt to start working on my car

Thanks - Not exactly sure of the gauge, I had some extra steel plates lying around that I cut up and used. It's a bit thicker than the original so from a strength standpoint it's good to go.

Man, one of my biggest regrets was getting rid of my 82. With those t-tops....Man! You have to be happy you didn't sell that one for scrap. I can't wait to see what you do it it.

Coming out great. Did you reuse the seat support that runs across the top of the floor pans or replace it?
That is an amazing amount of work. Great job!

Thanks - I re-used the original seat support/brace. I ended up cutting out a lot of rusty metal and welding in patches on the support. Form followed function on this part if you know what I mean.
