Haven't spent any time on the rotter in a while. The back tire kept going flat so I finally ditched the 10-holes for a set of mesh rims I've had stashed in the basement.....

Rotter looks GOOD! I like the wheels, but then again I am a bit biased.

Im curious if you second guessed your decision to take on this project at any any point along the way. The time you have spent saving this car is unreal. One of the most impressive builds on the site in my opinion.

Are those winter tires? surely you're not going to subject it to snow and salt after all that rust repair.

Thanks for the kind words. It's been a labor of love and also my hobby. There are (and have been) some very intense builds on this site over the years. I don't regret taking on this project, but lately my interests have been in other places. So haven't put hardly any time into my 82 GT in many months. I still have a small punch list of items to finish off. Perhaps over the winter if the weather isn't too cold. Otherwise I'll start on it again next spring.

Good eyes Ed! Yes, the rear tires are actually winter treads, lol. They were on the rims when I bought them and at least they hold air, unlike the 10-holes that I pulled off. The end goal for this car is a set of TRX, I still need to clear them before I can get the tires mounted.

Looks awesome! The 10-holes should be donated to the nearest Fairmont or Zephyr.

Joe, if you keep that windshield, you might see if the Inspection Station will keep the old sticker in place. I remember seeing a '68 Shelby at a car show once with a 1973 inspection sticker, and the current one just above. Its a fun ice breaker at car shows

I've just re-read this whole thread for like the 10th time. Absolutely amazing craftsmanship and talent (weekend warrior-pffftt). You, sir, have a brand new 82 GT.

One question I've had a along the way, but always forgot to ask: around page 8 or so, you have a pace car RF fender on Rotter. Do you know the story of the rest of the PC?

Thanks - I actually don't have the full back story of the PC fenders. I bought the pair at a car show many moons ago. One fender went on my old 84 convertible. The other one ended up on this car.

I never throw anything (worthwhile) away. Example - the fender from this car (rotted at the bottom), ended up as a patch panels on pass floor board of what's now my daughter's 99 Jeep XJ:

Thanks - my brother and nephew visited from SC this week. So I pulled the rotter out of the garage so they could check it out. Snapped a few pics while it was out of hibernation.

Been a L-O-N-G time since I've seen the old MA inspection stickers. The current/new MA inspection program is far over-reaching and ridiculous (with the cameras), but that's another topic not for this thread.

    Hey J

Figured I'd resurrect this thread and see how you are doing. Been a crazy 2020 and hopefully you are still tinkering away on Rotter and other projects.

Hi Mark, I was actually thinking about putting the 82 on the road last spring until the "C" word hit our world. Going to try it again this spring. But right now it's sleeping along with my SVO in the garage, now covered in a foot of new snow....

Hopefully this year will be a bit better year and you can get the 82 out and about. My '86 saw less than 100 miles last year so I totally get it. I picked up an '88 LX 5.0 with 40K miles on it from upstate New York (sans engine) that I'm hoping to tinker with come spring. Would be nice to get to a cruise night or car show in 2021 since last year was a big goose egg for me, like most. Planning to hit Carlisle All-Ford in 2021, but we shall see if the "C" puts a damper on that - fingers crossed that it doesn't!

Good to hear that your 82 is on deck for the possibility of some summer fun and the SVO is keeping it company for now! Got the same dumping of snow in Enfield, I'd say about 12-13" at the house... guess we can't complain too much, has been a fairly light snow year so far.

Was just thinking...Will have to stop using the term "Rotter" as "Rotter" is no longer a "Rotter" anymore! '82 GTs are my favorite of the 4 eyes and yours is painted my color of choice if I had an '82.

On the other hand, "Rotter" reminds us back to when he started his labors. One hell of a long way now from where it started, though. One of my favorite threads on the site. Reminds me my car isn't so bad at all, it's me that's the weak link.
