Got to admit, I like the slight sheen on the moulding area.
This car is turning out amazing!

^^ Thanks everyone! ^^
I attempted to double pin stripe the moldings, ended up with a double fail:
1) the pin stripe doesn't stick all that well
2) the pin stripe color is pretty far off from the original molding color
I've order some different pin stripe tape, this time in Burgundy. Hopefully that is a lot closer in color to the original and it sticks better....

Get it good and clean first. Wax over the stripes when done.
A plastic adhesion promoter wipe will help as well.
Thanks Ed!
Agreed.
The rubber moldings were cleaned with lacquer thinner and steel wool. Never had an issue like this before, but I suspect the pin stripe was just junk. Goes to show that you get what you pay for....
Hopefully this is the last time I use my welder on this car, lol:
So I basically welded a chrome tip that i bought (back in 2012) to a standard 5.0 LX exhaust pipe.
The original tip that was actually hanging under the car when I bought it soooooo many years ago is shown in this pic. While the chrome tip isn't correct, it's close enough for me.

I striped my Turbo without any prep and that was 4 years ago and it is sticking fine. Not sure what the difference might be. Maybe there is something on the molding? I expected it to be a PITA but it was actually easy. Stick it at the front (the key here is it has to stick which obviously yours did not) and pull it all the way to back without it touching the molding and just stick it on. I think maybe you just had a bad roll of stripe. I don't know what I am doing and am proud to say it came out great. I think the "sticky" was just gone on what you bought. Have them order some newer rolls.

Tip and the exhaust look great! As does the rest of the car.
I agree with posts above, I bet you just got either a bad batch of pin stripes or just plain old and no longer sticky. As long as the surface has been cleaned well and any silicone, grease, wax, Armor All, etc. has been removed they should stick pretty well. Better luck on the next batch.

New pin stripe is on the way, I'm pretty sure the red one that I used first pass was just not a quality product....
Rear wheel wells are now all nice and black again, fresh coat of undercoating.
Cleaned up the bottom of the tank cover and hit it with some black paint to get rid of the over spray from the paint job.
Black wheel wells look so much better against the red paint.

Been awhile since I checked in here Joe but the Rotter is looking GREAT!
I need to get back to work on mine and get the bodywork finished up. I'm already tired of driving with the front bumper in primer.

New pin stripe arrived yesterday. Much better quality and I like the color better (burgundy vs red). Another item off the check list!

Getting really close on this one Joe. The car looks sweet. Much better color on the pinstripes.
I still have a list of a few dozen items that need to be completed on this car. I hadn't really had much time over the last several weeks, but this weekend I started chipping away slowly at a few items. Got the LF front brakes completed and splash shield installed. Tomorrow I'll get the RF side done.....
