Glad to see we can both help motivate one another!

Not sure if its in your budget, but here is a new rear bumper support bracket for you.

    https://lmr.com/item/LRS-17835-UPBKT...t-bracket-7993

Here is a foam support pad for the top of the bumper cover to help with the dips and waves.

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/322223752372...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

My rear cover is in about the same shape as yours. Not bad for an OEM unit, but definitely could be better. I am going to give the foam pad a try once I get to that point. Luckily my mounting bracket is in good shape, so I don't need one of those right now. Glad to see you had some time to work on it.

Thanks Trey. If I had known about the LMR rear bumper support I would have bought one. Would have saved a bunch of time. But my refurb is sturdy.

I may have to try that foam support. Not quite that far along just yet....

Sorry I was late to the party!

I definitely understand the not quite that far along just yet part! Mine has snow balled out of control once again! Oh, well it will all be worth it in the end. This is the first Fox in a LONG Time I am doing for myself with no intention of selling!

I bought one of these earlier this week, should be here next week. Once I get it, I'll remove the bumper and re-install with the added support.

Also been spending some quality time on the hatch and pass side doing some block sanding. I applied most of the final putty tonight (ran out need to get more tomorrow). I should be able to get it sanded and in final primer by the end of this coming weekend so I can spin the car around for next week.

I also bolted the rear spoiler to the hatch just to be sure there were no more "mid-year" changes to the mounting with the 79 hatch.... Fits pretty well.

Agreed Brock. I had Joe's urethane repair etched in my brain and the time has come that I needed to follow up and do a repair myself very soon.

Thanks again for documenting and sharing Joe

Yesterday I was able to get the rear bumper support installed. The instructions say to ditch the factory support, but I wanted to continue to use it. So I lowered the bumper support down about 3/16" so the new support would fit under the factory metal support. Then installed everything to be sure it still lines up properly.

All in all, the support really helped smooth the rear bumper cover quite a bit. I'm glad I added it to the car. Not 100% perfect but definitely much better

I also finished the final sanding on the pass side and hatch. Should be able to spray final primer this week. I also did an initial sanding of the rear spoiler parts. Still need to fix some blems and then final sand / prime....

There's just something about the 82 GT, that is so deserving of 500+ horsepower.

The GT is looking good! Congrats on all the work.

Glad to see the bumper cover foam piece is worth the money. I need one for my GT also. Unfortunately I am still a bit away from getting to the bumper install at this time.

Finished up the pass side, primered and ready for final wet sanding. Then I threw a battery in the old girl, fired it up and backed it out of the garage. Let it run a bit then backed it in the garage so I can finish the pass side. Here's where I am at:

Thanks guys. Been hitting it hard over the last few weeks. Finished the drivers side and did some work on the 3 piece spoiler:

Then I did the final fit & finish and backed the car out of the garage so I could hose out all the dust that had accumulated:

Love the pics, thanks for sharing your most recent progress! Do you do all the work in your 2 car garage? I complain that I only have a 2 car garage and with the tools and various items, it's tight.
