You would think my head would just detach and fall off with how much I shake it back and forth in disbelief of your abilities, so jealous.

Very nice work Joe glade to see your car moving along
Very impressive. I think a lot of guys would have just tossed out even that aero door due to issues it had. But this is a perfect example of how just about anything can be fixed if you have the patience and skills to do so. And no timeline of course. I had a few things like this I had to deal with on my Capri but nowhere near to this extent. I can't wait to see it finished someday.

Joe:
Just superlative workmanship -
Absolutely incredible work for a "Weekend Warrior"
I did a lot of panel cutting about 35 years ago to make Patch panels for my GT 350 - In the days before you could buy the repro panels ( cosmetic and structural ) stuff and had to use the sheet metal you could scrounge from the bone yards.
I may have been very good cutting out and measuring and preparing the panels and patches I made
- But
I left the Fitting and welding to my buddy a National Champion Model A restorer.
Who is a Metal Forming, Body work and Paint wizard.
He is a Nationally famous Professional Pin Stripper as well.
That said I showed my buddy these shots of your work.
Remember a National Championship winning Model A restorer and nationally recognized Model A- Body work and Paint expert.
When he was 18 he spliced together a 69 MACH 1 Front and Rear Clip - That car is still on the road today- He had a 1965 GT 350 he brought back from the dead as well
He knows Mustangs
His comments are as follows;
"This guy is Really , Really Good"
If he is a Weekend Warrior " They need to completely Re-define the term"
I think that says it all -
Tremendous work Joe

Don't want that to happen Jeff....
Thanks, it's a lot closer to paint than it was this time last year.
Ken, as you know, the problem is finding decent sheet metal (doors and hatches in particular) up here is getting tougher and tougher. I have a total of 3 driver's side doors and this was the best of the bunch I frequently cruise CL looking for better metal, but at the end of the day I've just learned to deal with it. Repair isn't that hard, just time consuming. Good thing the passenger side door is 100% rust free and from a 4-eye car. So I only need to add the door support at the top edge.
Thanks Ed, means a lot.

Good weekend, got the major body work complete on the driver side and in primer:
Yesterday was a good day to be in the garage, was rainy/snowy/crappy:
And tonight I got the guts and glass into the driver's side door:
It helps to have the passenger side door as a reference
Tomorrow night I'm going to spin the car around and start the plastic work on the passenger side......

Awesome work on this car. It's amazing what you have done with a car that was in what most people would consider disrepair. Great save!!!

very nice work, keep it up, I am getting motivated from this.
^^^ Thanks guys
First off, the new photobucket sucks.....
Last week I spun around the car and sanded down the fender and door:
Progress this weekend, focused on the passenger door, stripped the glass and guts from the original one and installed on the new one, including the top support bar that needs to be welded:
Here is where it's at. At least now I can sand and not get a bunch of dust/crap inside the car now.

Yep, the new PB sucks my balls
Your work on the other hand does not.
I agree on PB also. Looking good Joe. Good thing you got the window in. You don't want to get dust all over the lack of interior. It is a pain regardless though. Looks like it has a new garage mate too.

Joe:
As per usual Tremendous work - Which obviously shows up in the Pics
Sorry to hear about the Sander !
Always a downer to have a good power tool give up the Ghost -
Why is it that the most power tools always seem to know when to retire at the most inopportune times ?

Joe your car is looking great .It has come a long way . be real Proud of your work
My 82 was in better shape, but not by too much. It had only seen one winter, but lets face it they are old cars. In the Midwest old here isn't like in Arizona. I never got into the actual resto. I had accumulated every part, everything needed including original recaros, everything specific and the bottom fell out from underneath me. No job, no money and so it, along with everything else left. Life sometimes really sucks, but it is sure nice to see my dream your reality. Nice work!
01 F250 Lariat SC 4x4 and it's paid for. Still loving the V10
Thanks, yes a lot of hours and parts to get it this far, but I feel like there is still a ton left to do before it's anywhere close to paint...
Well hopefully your dream will come true as well. Thanks for the kind words
Today I backed the rotter out of the garage so I could give the garage floor a good cleaning. And while it was out I threw some more parts at it:
