New England Fall Cruise - Sunday October 9th 2011

After missing out this weekend on the smokingstangs meet I'm thinking we better start planning the fall cruise. My Capri isn't ready but I'm going to borrow a 92 LX for this. Last year Columbus day weekend seemed to work out pretty good. But if we do Columbus day weekend I plan on mapping out a route to completely bypass the town of Lincoln and avoid that craft fair traffic. I can't do the weekend before. It's the one weekend a year I have to work.

I havent been up there in many years but I will tell you to avoid the Town of Lincoln and the area near the jct of I93 and the Kanga on Columbus day (or almost any nice fall/leaf-peeper) weekend. Terrible traffic. Conway/N. Conway can be pretty bad too.

I might be going to South carolina that weekend for training. Not sure I can get out of it. On another note, It is horible traffic in Lincoln that weekend. Especially without a clutch pedal. lol

Nice Jeff. Actually Sunday would be slightly better for me too. My wife works Saturdays. I want to go pre-run the route I have in mind soon. But with all the flooding I don't know what the road conditions will be like. I'm thinking of the same route as last year except turning off the Kanc onto bear notch road, then down west side road into Conway and back down 153. So we would basically start and end in the same place.

The thing I'm most concerned about is the bridge on I believe 175 from Bartlett down to west side road. I know it was closed for a while. Even if I can't make it up there I have some friends in Bartlett than will know. But of course I don't want to subject anyones cars to washed out half dirt roads either.

Crap, that bridge is the one on 302 and it's closed. I wouldn't be surprised if bear notch road is closed too. Back to the drawing board unless everyone is OK with the Lincoln traffic. Last year I went through it 3 times and it sucked. But once wouldn't be so bad if we all had clutch pedals. It would also give us a place to stop and eat also.

There will be bacon for sure if you guys want to do breakfast again. Worked out good last year. I'm pretty sure last years route will be fine with the exception of the Lincoln traffic. I'm probably heading up there Sunday so I should be able to check it out.

I had to miss Laconia too because we had a guy quit at work. So I had to cover Saturday. Schedule has been all fubar lately. I do have Saturdays off again, but not Sunday. I might be able to swap the Sunday if I give an advance notice.

Where do you guys meet up for the fall cruise? I've seen mention of Conway/Kanga hwy. I know that area as I lived in Bridgton a few years ago.
