Default Where does the Cat head go!

I have noticed that the Cat head on the front fender is sometimes in the center (top to bottom) and sometimes closer to the top.
The brochures for 1981 show the cat in the center.

The brochures for 1982 show the Cat closer to the top and maybe larger.

The 1983 has a ring around it, closer to the top, and appears to have rounded corners on the pinstrips.

Are these factual by year model. I had a 1981 model 30 years ago and I remember the Cat being centered. I just bought a 1982 model and the Cat is closer to the top. Any thoughts?

Keep in mind that the cars where assembled by hand and by people that either make mistakes and or don't do things exactly the same every time. Therefore, it is quite possible the decals can be installed in different locations on different cars. Personally I would decide what you like best (centered or offset to the top or bottom) and install it the way you want. After all it is your car. I doubt many would argue with you. Heck most of the people won't even know what a Black Magic is unless they are members here.

    Good Luck!

I agree. I've noticed that my original decals sure do look like they were applied by hand, and by someone who didn't bother to sweat the details. So there likely is no exact spot where the head goes, but it seems that the people who applied them generally aimed for the middle.
