    Default Cool Roush Capri page

Found this page looking for Capri information. It was pretty cool! I had no idea there was so many Capri race cars made by Roush and how well they did in the years they competed. Gotta love that Bubble hatch!

Does anyone still make that body kit?

Nice page, thanks for sharing. The part that make me go "hmmmmm" is those cars (or at least some of them) are still around somewhere. I would love to find one and the owner not want an arm and leg for it. I'll bet you could title it as a hobby car, or kit car. One would be an awesome project.....why do I keep coming here, it cost me money EVERY time?

I would love to own 1 of these as well, but you have to remember that these were full tilt race cars with pretty much factory support. Somebody built the cars, tested them, and maintained them. Big money to support those cars. They will not go cheap at any stage of the game. Too much time, engineering, and testing involved. I think somebody posted a really old ad about Roush selling some of them in the late '80s? IIRC they wanted ~$50k-$75k/per car. I could be wrong, but I know they are NOT cheap.

I would love to find some of the widebody panels as well, although I don't think those would be too cheap/easy to get on a stock Capri either.

Has anybody seen any of these for sale recently?

    Why yes! I do!

I was lucky enough to find the body panels to replicate a "Tribute" Capri/Mustang. In my searches which have been ongoing since the early 90's when the cars do come up for sale the price tag is easily 50K+. That is usually not a true Roush or Gloy car more likely a privateer. The couple of Roush or Gloy cars that I have seen were in excellent or restored condition and the price reflected it at usually 125K+. As stated these race cars were expensive to build and maintain, add to that the racing heritage etc and you can see the reason for the prices. Since at this time in my life with 2 girls headed to college in a few years and another one not far behind them, I don't think I will be able to afford one for some time.

Luckily I was finally able to find these!

    Which can look like this!

The plan is to repair the race damage to the parts to restore them back to like new condition. Then build molds to replicate the parts since I would like to eventually build 2 cars (One Gloy 7/11 Capri Tribute and One Roush Motorcraft Mustang Tribute) and I have another friend that wants to build one too as a street car. Once the molds are finished, then I will take the originals and restore them back to the original 7/11 paint scheme with appropriate decals and markings (most of which they have now) and then they will be used as really cool garage art in my shop to preserve them.

I don't have any time frame on this project at this time, but once I get started I plan on starting a thread for it for anyone that might be interested. Also once the molds are done and I know the parts are good quality, I would be willing to make a set for anyone that has the same desires to build their own race car or tribute car.

Ford Motorsports used to sell this body kit.

As stated kind of a calmer/gentler version of the factory Trans Am/IMSA GTO cars.

Here is a picture of an SVO with the body panels similiar to them on it.

The kit is made by this company.

    http://preformresources.com/

A couple of racers over on Corner-carvers.com have bought and installed the kit. The fenders/quarters are @$650 plus shipping and packaging.

They also have this rear wing which is supposed to be a copy of the Motorsport tall version that Ford used on several show cars, etc.

Here is a picture of the spoiler on a Mustang.

Hi Trey, that's incredible you have these... I'm actually producing a film with one and would love to talk to you about it... Are you making tributes? Did you make one? Is there a way to get in touch? All the best,
