    Updates?!

I actually just brought the car home today. I'll be working on the motor and transmission swap first then onto the other fun stuff.
Might toss the brakes on as its a pretty simple swap.

    The pictures from tonight

My favorite right now. My car looking at itself in the mirror.

Roof Shots..... See my extra wire awaiting a jbox and some more mc to hook up my other light? Don't send code enforcement after me!

The paint isn't perfect but its really nice. Very happy to have it here to start the motor swap work.

I think that is why I like black so much, the reflections are simply AWESOME, when the paint is finished right. WOW!!

Just a quick update. I started installing the front brakes and ran into a snag. The adaptors supplied with the wilwood kit had some issues with the studs on them. They require 30ft/lbs of torque and are pinch fit so they go on a little snug. Well one of them went on just fine but the other refused to torque to spec and just spun. I was able to get the nut off with a little work and when I took it all apart I found the threads on the stud were trashed. Pretty suprising for less then 30lbs of torque.
Since I have two brackets I pulled the other one out and inspected it and found the threads aren't happy. With my fingers I was able to peel the threading off in places leaving half threads. Looks like maybe the cutter was a bit off when the studs were made or threads cleaned after coating.
Called up wilwood and told them what I had figuring it was no big issue and they told me since I bought from Summit that they were the ones to talk to. Thought after the initial sale wilwood would be the ones standing behind their product but apparently not.
Called up Summit (my sales person is Liberty from out in NV) told him the issues and explained what I had and he got me new studs and nuts shipped out within a few days. I bought the kit like 9 months ago but am just now getting around to installing it and they said no problem and took care of me. Can't say enough for good customer service.
I replaced one of the studs with a little bit of elbow grease and a good set of vice grips.
    Like the way it looks!

    Terrific looking set-up !!!!!

Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Somewhat troubling that Wilwood rep wouldn't solve your problem - As you stated given it was THEIR product.

Not very confidence inspiring in my view

Summit has a great rep - My wife and son bought me a few Christmas presents form them last year . My wife works in retail sales and she just could not say enough good things as to how she was treated and how good the service was.

Glad that they came through for you !!

    Keep at it !!!

Unfortunately Wildwood's response is probably what they are contractually required to do.

To get the best prices, big vendors like Summit negotiate with the provider that they will handle the 'level 1' support calls so Wildwood doesn't have to staff their call centers to match # of items sold. Only when the seller can't help do the provider get involved and then you'll need a ticket or something from the seller saying the can't help. Been through this a couple of times with Summit, LRS, etc. Usually it is a smooth if the seller is any good.

    cc:

Fair Point - As price is always an issue there will be "trade-offs" Hadn't quite looked at from that perspective ( Customer Suport vs Volume Vendor pricing / marketing ) before.

    Insightful to know-

    Thanks -

Thats for the comments and input.

I figured summit would stand behind it in the short term but wilwood would be there for the big stuff. Either way i'm glad they helped and my rep is super helpful I try to always order from him.

Just an update: Not much progress as I tore my ACL and just went through surgery. Starting to get around a little bit so i'll try and actually make some progress.

    Drag:

Heal up - Take your time - Don't push too hard - ACL major issue - Have to follow Doc's routine or , as you now know - less than good outcome may follow

    Throttle back a bit

Not exactly an update but I'm feeling much much better already. I hurt myself in may and had to wait for roughly 3 months to see the surgeon I wanted. 6 weeks to get an appointment and 6 weeks to get surgery after we learned it was a torn ACL. As of today I feel better then I have in months and will be back to working on the car soon.

Ok so quick questions, are the sail panels all carbon fiber or just carbon fiber wrapped?

As for the brakes do you have the part numbers for the brake kit? Do the calipers actually fit under those cobra wheels?
If you blink at the end of the straight away you'll miss the twisties and what fun would that be!

The sail panels are plastic, maybe yours got wrapped? Sorry, but I can't help with the brake question. Good luck!

Sorry I haven't been updating this.
I ended up deciding to use a tko600 and quicktime bell housing. The engine and transmission are in the car currently but more for mock up as I plan to build the motor. Looks like i'll need either a custom intake or to convert to manual brakes as the manifold will not clear the so boost.

    The panels were carbon wrapped.
What part numbers do you need on the brakes? The wheels fit over the 13 inch kit. They are tight in the surface to caliper face area. Might have a 1/4 inch of space.

The paint was single stage with clear. I don't know the brand off my head but could find out easy enough.

I am interested in the part number for both the whole front and rear kits unless you peaced them together? I am currently setting up cobra pbrs and those wheels for my capri but if i want/need more stopping power in the future its nice to know what kits work with my wheels.

The brakes started out as a basic kit.

Front was 140-9107 wilwood. I decided to upgrade the rotors to the slotted ones.

Rear was 140-3018B This kit had cast calipers where the fronts were all machine finished. Added WIL_120-9703 Dyna pro calipers and slotted rotors.

The bad part for some people would be that it will eliminate your factory emergency brake. For what I want to do this isn't a problem and is actually a benefit. To keep the factory ebrake it limits your options but is still available.

So i'm experimenting with some gauges for the car but so far its kind of a toss up. I like one of these sets but can't help but wonder how it ties into the the rest of the interior.

American made gauges at a reasonable price. If you haven't ever checked them out here is a link. They look a lot different on their site then what the printer put out.
