Default My "New" 80 Cobra Project

Finally got some pics of the 80 cobra since i brought her home. Not the best, best something for now. Been working on putting my interior back together in the 81 so haven't had a chance to do much on the 80 yet. She needed the paint rubbed out so i did go over it just by hand for now with some heavy compound so there is no wax on her right now. Wanted to do some needed touch work on it anyway so this way no wax to contend with. Just gave it a quick wash today and snapped these pics in the garage. She is a pretty clean car but does have some needs. Has some thin paint in area's, back bumper needs the white repainted(all checked and cracked), interior needs cleaned up before i get some pics. Since i have the trx's that i had refinished on my 81 i went ahead and put the trx's from the 81 on the 80. I think they just looks so much better than the 10 holes on it. Just makes it look right. Anyway here are few pics for the time being.

one of the 81 for good measure. got to clean up a set of center caps for the refinished trx's

thanks guys. just came in from doing some buffing on the 80. did heavy cut stuff by hand previous to the pics. Just got done doing medium cut and fine cut with buffer. I can not believe how nice the paint is cleaning up. It's kind of ashame it has so many thin spots on corners and edges. Once i get it waxed and polished along with some nicer weather i will have to pull it out for some good pics.

That is an awesome garage full you have there. I'm so envious of you. I'd be thrilled to have either of those 80 or 81 Cobra's. Very nice indeed!

I worked for a body shop during my high school years. My boss would tape any hard edges or corners on older worn paint before buffing to ensure they were protected from burn through on the thin spots.

That looks good, Kerry. Much better, with the TRX wheels. I can't wait to see the look on peoples faces, this summer, when you pull into shows with two Cobras!

Thanks guys, appreciate all the comments. The garage is actually a mess right now with stuff all over the place. I need to take a day to clean it up.

I have to admit that I was surprised at some of our local shows last year how much attention the cobra got. We seem to have alot of folks that are more into the newer stuff with more power. Kind of figured the 81 would get pushed aside with the newer cars. I must say that i found that there were more folks than i thought with appreciation for these cars.

both cars are in very good shape for their age, but i still have alot of cleaning/detailing to do on both to get them up to my expectations. Seems that i keep buying cars that take more and more work to get them to what i expect.
