Default Restoring Saleen #26, Warning lots of pictures..

Well she arrived last week and I've already done a little bit of work on stripping the interior and checking everything out for the bodywork and paint thats going to be coming soon. Here is how 26 showed up, with a bunch of new/replacement parts and a bunch of the parts that were already pulled in boxes..

    Check this out

Bought these gauges from PAS, they are out of a new PJ Saleen, I plan on making a little pod down in the factory information center...

This is on the way from PAS as well, almost had to donate plasma to afford it

O and some of theseeee, its got Tokico's Illumina's on it so I may leave these on the shelf for a bit, the Tokicos ride pretty well.

It was running a little rough and had no power, so a quick Mobil 1 oil change, Motorcraft filters and plugs and getting some fresh gas in the tank did wonders, went ahead and yanked the interior for the body shop. Going to start the chassis and underhood restoration while waiting on them to get some room for me..

    Now its there....

    Now its gone!

And I guess there were a two different Riken wheels used on the Saleens, the more common unfinished mesh rim, which the car came with a set,

And then the uncommon machined finish Rikens that are on the car, the wheels were painted black and then the tops of the mesh were ground down smooth so they would shine, then Saleen painted over mine with red for the photo shoots. You can see the black/machine edge coming through the paint chips..

More to come! As I get it done!

Thanks, its been one of of the foxes I've wanted the most for awhile. Lots of good things happened to the mustang in 86..

Got a little done yesterday, headliner wasn't totally trashed but had stains and a couple spots so I picked up some fabric (Oxford Gray) and reupholstered it..

    Half way

    Needs a trim and holes

Ready to install! I always leave a little extra material to help wedge it up in there.

Don't feel bad man! I bought a new Momo from Saleen back in 96 for my car and after all was said and done (mounting adapter, cruise plate, and new buttons) I had over $450 in it! But worth every penny! I love the early Saleen's. My dad bought 90-033 new and had it for 15 yrs before letting it go. It was also red with silver stripes. Good luck on the resto!

Believe me he regrets it all the time! I too wish he had kept it, but that's life.

I'm hoping so! Once I get the engine and trans out the car is going to get hauled up to the paint shop and it will be awhile before it gets an update. But in the meantime I can go through the motor and make sure its good, rebuild the transmission and restore the interior panels. Work work work!

Another package showed up today. I already had the main unit, but I needed the sunvisor clip and the proper power cord, so I bought another, plus it has the cool case lol

How is #50 coming along! Any pictures?
