Default 2.3 Ford Motorsport Cam Cover Value

I have read on the SVO posts that the Ford Motorsport 2.3 Cam Cover is a rare Item.

    Questions:

Just How RARE is this Part ?

What is the Estimated Value of a NOS ( in the Oiginal Ford Box ) Example ?

    I am the original owner of a 1986 7B SVO - 14,600 Original Miles -

It IS NOT a Garage Queen - But it is extremely well cared for -

AND Most Importantly NOT For SALE !

It is just too much fun !

NOS sold on ebay for $200. but it took a couple reposts to sell. I bought a nice used one for $50. If you have one, I'd pay the same again for one... as mine got stolen

There are two versions of the Motorsport cover. The earlier one is rounded and looks more like a stock cover and the later one is squared off more like an XR4TI cover. My guess is the earlier cover is a rarer piece. I've seen most examples going between $100 and $200. Or you could just put it on your car since it's a period-correct piece.

So, how much for your car?

    Default 7B Photos

Already been dome by my friend escogt -

I don't exactly know where - I believe that he said pictures were on a section of the FEP section.

Been very busy lately trying to generate new business so I haven't been on the site much.

I will check with him and get back as to where he posted them

I do believe that he put some shots up that were of last July's

Syosset Ford Thunderbird Show - Date I believe was 18 July 2010-

    Vehicle is 99.5% Original -

    Replacement Items from OEM -

    1. Battery - Optima
    2. Tires - Michelin Pilot Sport's - Best Ever handling Open track with these
    3. Air Filter ( K&N ) Day After I took delivery
    4. Ford Motorsport 140 MPH Speedo - Installed by Dealer Day Before Delivery
    5. Center Force Clutch Assembly - Installed 1 Year After Delivery
    6. Simpson 5 Point Competition Harnesses ( Driver & Passenger )

    That's it -

Attracts a lot of attention at Cruise Nights from People ( not just FoMoCo folks ) who know what it is and what it was meant to do and be.

    Thanks for the interest

Cam Cover is Earlier Version - Same "Squared Off"design as OEM Cover.

Given that I had to sell my 1967 Shelby GT 350 because of unending awful current Economic Conditions- Which was Heart breaking - I bought the Shelby in 1976 (3rd Owner )- Restored it over 6 years and was going to someday give it to my son -

If you are a true Car Guy you can figure out what that moment was like for me

Considering that traumatic experience let me put it this way.

To paraphrase Charlton Heston's famous NRA Quote -

"You will have to pry my SVO from my Cold Dean Hands"

Which will also be holding my 1911 A1 - Colt

    Not happening

Hey Dean, I didn't know they still let you have guns in NY? J/K on selling the car and very sorry to hear about the Shelby. I hope someday you can buy it back. I'm planning to attend the BBQ in NY for the first time this year so hopefully will see you there. In the meantime post up some pictures as Joe suggested.

I also use the PS2's on Bullitt rims and agree, you can't buy a better street tire for the (lots of) money.

Had my 45's for thirty + years - Despite best efforts of NY Pols and Nassau County Law Enforcement to try and take away your sidearms.

I was a Light Weapons Specialist in the military. So I have pretty much dodged every lame argument that County Police can come up with to try and make me sell/surrender my sidearms.

As long as I am a Solid Citizen and play by the ever changing rules - Things are cool.

Last time I looked there is still a Considerable Supply of BAD GUY'S out there -

Buying the Shelby back would indeed be nice - But for now things are what they are -

Tough environment for small business guys like me.

Knew you were Kidding - Just couldn't resist the analogy -

Agree on Pilot Sports - Looked hard at BFG Comp TA'a - Had a set of them on my 1972 AMX ( Mounted on REAL Minilites ) and the car was a real Gymkhana and Hill Climb killer !
Handled great on the open road also - Early BFG's had a tendency to be a bit "noisy" at speeds over 120 MPH - But then you are doing 120 !

Had the chance to drive a friends 1965 GT 350 shod with PS's and I was sold !

Pricey - Kind of - But WORTH EVERY DIME -

    Ed,

If I recall correctly, I saw an NOS motorsport VC for the 2.3 in the vicinity of 250-275 a while back on ebay.

Glad you are going to be able to make it to the BBQ this year. I've never been able to get up to OB hence why you only met me at Syosset that one time. Will be there again this yr the day after the BBQ.

both you and your son coming to the BBQ, so I can jot it down? Viking, I'll send you a PM as I think this is the first I am hearing of this about you coming.

I have two pistols and frequently travel to NH where I'd like to bring them up for some recreational shooting. Unfortunately I can't get them through NY state due to the stupid gun laws so I share your frustration. I've pretty much told my wife that's why I'll never move to NY. Well, that and Hillary

I would be honored to have you and Ed as the first SVOs to participate! We have had a turbo 2.3 though, an 83 Capri took that honor last yr.

Yes, I bet it is. My local gun dealer has a sticker on their door which is one of my favorite. Says, "Smith & Wesson, the original homeland security".
