Thanks Mike =) I have the 8.8 housing and discs to finish the 5 lug, but I'm waiting on some Fox length axles at the moment. I also need 2 more HPP wheels and some 245/45R16's if I can find any. It used to be what everyone ran on their rear pony's but it seems that most manufacturers have quit making that size of tire.

Looks great! Glad to see you making some forward progress on this, and your plans are right on! I have always liked those wheels, but I see they may not make the cut for the final edition.

I may try to find some Lincoln MK VII wheels to run on the front and put the current ones on the rear when the Fox length axles get in.

    vs. the HPP wheels.

More offset, greater backspacing and from what I can tell, an identical wheels center design.

sweet, make your own set of skinny lip/fat lip wheels, but probably the same width, right on!

I work daily around a bone stock '01 Crown Vic with the HPP wheels and like them more and more, especially the 'deep dish/ lip' look to them.

Default It's been a long long time.. =)

Hey all, it's been a while since I have had anything to post regarding the Capri. Between harvest and grain hauling, this fall and early winter have been pretty busy. I have had the chance this last week to get the '96 diff up on the bench for a full overhaul.

I'm not sure if anyone has had experience with a: Superior Axles or b: FRPP Cobra diff. clutch packs but that's what I have to work with. The axles are fox length 5 lug to fit the widened SPP wheels inside the rear fenders.

The wheels are split and waiting to get welded and refinished (LSC front and 9" wide HPP rear). It turned out to be quite expensive to have the wheel work done but they'll be with the car until it's days are done. The biggest hurdle I have run into with the wheels has been finding rubber. It seems rediculous that 16" rubber with a width of over 245 is virtually non-existant. I have found 255/50r16 BFG Sports or BFG Drag Radials and that is it... both are currently on back order in western Canada. 245/50's are readily availiable but everything tells me that they are only recommended for 8.5" rim width max. Anyone have ideas about what I should do for tires?

It's getting tough to find much in anything smaller than a 17 inch lately if you want a performance tire. Check out the Falken ziex 512. They make these in lots of the now oddball sizes including 255/50/15. I have a set of these on my BMW (although in 205/55/15) and I love them.

is what I found behind that ugly aluminum console. The original owner had cut the dash to fit the stereo.

I'll make some kind of faceplate to cover it once I find a head unit to replace the ol' cassette player that was in it.
    its looking great so far!

unless I find a shop with NOS on these tires, Falken has discontinued this tire and the replacement 912 they only make up to 245/50r16, recommended for 8.5 inch rim.

I wired a new Autometer in place of the SunTach that came w/ the car when I bought it. I can get the wiring schematic for you, but the car is under wraps at the moment.

I did get some work done on the diff in the last few days; fully stripped, new bearings installed and a coat of paint for good measure.

Well, the diff is finished. 3.55's, FRPP carbon clutch pack and synthetics.. all-in-all about $700 CDN including the used '95 8.8.

Flipped and clipped brackets and fox length axles should fit the widened wheels inside the fenders.
The shop just called and the wheels are tack welded and ready for fitment. I'll pick them up tomorrow and hopefully get the diff in to test fit.

Good news on the tire front.. BFG is coming out with a revised version of the Sport in 255/50r16 called the Sport COMP-2. They should be a nice square fit for the rears at 9.25" rim width.

It's been raining here the last few days.

The rain has given me the time to pick these up,

but not the time to get the diff in yet. Just need a little shop time and it's full of high clearance sprayer at the moment.

    Some Hipstamatic fun

Looking at the fronts and thinking I should have gone 225/50r16 instead of 55. Next set will be 50 series.

A small measure of progress today.. lot's to go yet. The accessory drive that the previous owner had set up squealed like mad due to the belt running ribbed side in on the flat surface of the water pump pulley. The had removed the power steering also, which I prefer to have as it's going to be primarily a street car. This is what it was,

this was all removed. The direct drive fan was SUPER noisy as well.

This is mocked up to measure for belt length when I recieve my powersteering pulley tomorrow.

These will also be making their way onto the car along with the new rack and bump-steer kit.

I am still so impressed with the quality of workmanship that Kelvin's Wheel and Tire did with the rims. Need to get a day off to pick up the rears and get the diff. in.

    and a gratuitous hipstamatic shot.
