    Default Ignition Switch Question?

My ignition cylinder (part where the key goes in) has been real loose and so I bought a new one to install however when I pulled of the black plastic cover to get to it the bottom of the ignition switch that bolts to the steering column fell out and the white plastic part is broken in two. First question is would that make the ignition cylinder loose and therefore not need to change it and second question how in the world would that thing break like that. Has anyone had it break before? I guess I have a third question would this be the reason I'm not getting power to my fuel pump?
BTW it is on my 84 GT Turbo.

If the switch is seperated, which is common, get a new ford piece. If the bolts just vibrated loose, that could be your problem, I THINK They ground through the column. It can cause fuel pump issues at the ignition switch.

I have not personally had this problem but my understanding is that it is extremely common for the plastic and metal parts to come apart.

Yeah, get a new Ford piece, not parts store junk if possible.

Put a new ignition switch and see if it makes a difference. If so take the new tumbler back.
