Thread: Tmoss porting?

  1. #1

    Default Tmoss porting?

I'm looking into getting a stock 87 intake ported and I was wondering who has dealt with Tmoss? I'm thinking of looking for a Holley Systemax 1 lower for the stock upper or GT40 intake? I know some will say to go aftermarket with a Trick Flow, Edelbrock, or complete Holley upper/lower setup but I'd like to maintain as much as a sleeper look as possible. Before anyone says it, I know the heads and cam will be the bottleneck portion of my setup and that will be addressed later this year when I start on my shortblock.

In conclusion, I'd like to know your personal experiences and gains achieved by going the Tmoss route. Thanks for any responses!

is Tmoss porting like extrude honing? Personally IMO that stock intake/TB is the bottle neck next to the heads and cam

    Thumbs up

TMoss just recently ported an '87 intake for me. He opened the upper to 70MM and ported the upper and lower. His work looks top shelf but I can't speak to performance yet since it's not installed. We spoke many times about my combo and I have no reservations it will perform has stated. Just like you I wanted to keep the stock look. MANY people have used him with positive results.

True, he's turned over most of the work to his son for awhile now, but Tom does the QC after. It'll really wake up the car though with a ported lower.

Tom is a nice guy and does good work. I've had him work 2 lower intakes for me. If you plan on the 80-100 porting deal he provides you might consider doing it yourself. Basically gasket matches and short blends on both ends. If you have worked with a dremel and have some bits you can easily match/surpass the basic service.

Thanks for the info! I've read a lot of good things about his work. Has anyone done the Systemax lower route for the Stock/GT40 upper?

I was happy with the work he did on my Cobra intake. I can't say what power gains just the intake porting did since I swapped heads and cam at the same time.

Read a lot on some of his work. Neverhad him do any work for me but what I've seen and heard. Its worth it. Can't promise u it will be a million horse extra nor can I say its pointless. I would only listen to fep members being people bash his work based on other peoples opinions. These opinions are real.

Instead of porting a stock 5.0 upper & Holley 1 lower, why don't you consider a cheap Explorer 5.0 intake & have Tmoss port that. It will flow a bunch more than a stock/Holley 1, probably be cheaper and with the stock top plate it looks fairly orignal!

It would be going on a 86 McLaren and I want it to LOOK stock.

He's the man. Have people wondering how your "stock" 5.0 runs so good!
