I switched to (back to) RWD back in the early 90's, and aside from one FWD car a couple years ago, the rest have been RWD. I just like the way RWD drives better.
There are a couple FWD cars I wouldn't mind having. Not because they're FWD though.

It's way more fun doing donuts in a RWD car...LOL
This pretty much sums up my feelings on the subject.

Well ---- for anyone (like Bo and Luke Duke) who get out on gravel roads, FWD is a bad idea since, when you kick it, you only throw rocks on yourself.

The only good fwd is Four Wheel Drive !! Front wheel drive has been crammed down our throats by the car companies. It's easier and cheaper to produce fwd cars then rwd cars and that's why most cars are fwd. RWD is for performance cars imo. I don't care how fast a 4 cyl front wheel drive car is , it looks stupid with huge tires on the front and itty bitty skinnies on the rear .

Hey, OP, can we get a poll going? FWD, RWD, or AWD?

FWD for ease of drivingease of driving? you should take my taurus sho for a spin. get on it to hard without holding on tight and it happens to catch any traction at all, you switch lanes. (torque steer is "fun")if u hang out with FWD guys then you know what torque steer is.
low power, open diff. fwds are forgiving but so is the same low power rwd too.
im gonna throw a whole new aspect in here of AWD.
being one of many on here who im sure have owned all three. i'll start with FWD
i had a lsvtec swapped civic. the car handled like a go kart since it was lowered, had no p/s and it felt like i hugged the road. however while i rocked 14 inch steelies for about a month. i managed to murder my axels. the car had no traction. would spin like a son of a b**** through first and second, chirp third, grab, and break stuff all the way through. taking a corner fast was okay since it was lowered. it would corner pretty well, but hit a pebble and the rear end would walk out, and without RWD there wasn't much chance of saving it.
all of my RWD cars have been pretty fun. i found it easier to correct mistakes in a RWD car than a front wheel car. but for cruising in say 2in of snow, front wheel was easier to drive. rear wheel has that fun factor of being able to walk the back end out on purpose though. i believe RWD is better than FWD
my subaru wrx however is awd. that car is the best thing ever in snow. handles better than anything ive ever owned, and is almost impossible to crash/spin out.
for sheer fun. rwd is better, for functionality and performance i think awd has it won

I know its not an option but I'll take rwd for my toys and awd for my dd. Not to mention in the winter I can powerslide and do donuts in the snow but have the front wheels digging in case I get too carried away. I had a turbo omni, it was fast but spinning the front wheels gets old.

AWD was left out of this debate for a reason...... not to mention there are just not a lot of them out there worth while unless you want a subaru...

As stated, FWD is more of a process to cheaply build cars. No way shape or form is it meant to be a "performance" thing. I live in Canada, I'm used to driving mostly in snow. I had a Focus and a Crown Vic as beaters recently. The crown vic had good winter tires and I NEVER had an issue with it, even driving in crazy snow storms on the 401 (Toronto to Montreal). Felt solid and forgiving. The Focus, also had good tires. I hate it when the nose of the car starts to slide sideways... Just a retarded feeling. For me it's: #1 = AWD and #2 = RWD. Performance cars are NEVER FWD.
I love RWD. IMHO they are just so much more fun to drive. Even in the snow i never had any problems with my mustang (nothing more than 5in though lol). Had way to much fun with it in DEC 08 when we had that nice little storm in the north west.

-lots of little stuff done to it, just working on making it a nice fun DD for now.
This is so logically easy, what does the professional racing community, NASCAR, etc use?
I am not smart but most of the professionals appear to be smarter than me, so thats my choice. I also know the answer to the chicken vs the egg. I know, easily which logically was first.

The only time I like the front wheels getting power is when the back wheels are getting at least 50% of the total power.
