Thread: My 84 LX ....

  1. #1

    Default My 84 LX ....

actually this one found me ... the car was sitting under a pile of junk in a garage ..some one painted everything primer grey with a spray can ...windows,mirrors,tires etc,etc...lol

its a v6 car, has the early spoiler on it ... the build date shows in 83 .... red interior... was gonna make it into a drag car,but every thing still works, heat/ac runs awesome ...so now its my work car ...

car was originally silver ,so i painted it silver again with some black accents...
    cleaned up real nice ...

i did decide to ditch the v6 and put in a v8 ...and a 8.8...
so hopefully it will have v8 power for next summer ...
i have been driving the car all summer and just this week put it away for the winter if we do get a winter ...

    thanks ....
i have picked up a few more things, a set of turbo headers and the related hotside parts....
i was converting my black gt from a nitrous car to a blower set up ,so i had carb hat, blow off valve and boost controller in my parts bin... i'm think'n a 76mm turbo should work quite nicely....

Larry i have a 84lx and the previous owner spray painted everything in primer gray, mirrors, rubber weather stripping and WORST of all the chrome trim around the windows. What did you use to get the paint off the chrome trim without scratching the chrome? Paint thinner? Also what tire size you have on the back? Looks very good, whole car looks good!! Thanks

i used laquer thinner to get all the over spray off they trim... they even had over spray on the tail lights and i ended removing some of the black paint on them so be careful if you have any over spray there...
the tire size is 225.55/16 , i think that is the factory size for a 90gt, thats what was on the rims when i got them ...

ok i picked a set of early tail lights and i put them on,but not sure if i like them ... i had them on my black gt...

also spent some time fabing up a brace for the turbo side of the headers, should eliminate any type of flex .... well at least thats the plan ....

this is where i'm at with the motor ...just about done ...have to get a timing pointer and a new alternator... and misc clamps and v-bands...
i have also finished fixing the bad spots in the floor ...now i am stripping the rear and front suspension out of it ...old rusty bolts are not fun...
