Default What year did the pass. side mirror start?

I was at a junkyard recently and saw a 79 or 80 with a deleted passenger side mirror ( I guess it wasn't standard ). I took the block off delete stuff just cause I thought it was neat but was it like this for years? I never saw a fox ( mustang ) without both mirrors before just this past weekend.
    ( perhaps I just wasn't looking?? )

I pulled a mirror delete off an '83 2 weeks ago in the junk yard. I got it simply because it was the only one I had ever seen.

The damn stock mirrors are so small they are worthless anyway so I say delete them both.

I believe the passenger mirror was an option at least until 84, as I've seen up to 84's without passenger side mirrors, however never recall seeing an 85 or 86 without it.

Dual mirrors were standard on some models or required with some options through the '84 model year. The passenger-side mirror was optional otherwise. After the '84 model year dual mirrors were standard. Mirrors were either body color, black or charcoal, or bright, depending on the model year, model, and or options chosen. Some were remote control, others were manual.

Digging up an old thread here but curious if anyone has had or seen a Capri without a passenger mirror from the factory. I've never seen one ordered without a radio either. Anyone come across an odd cat like this?

I believe I have seen a couple of early Capri's without the side mirrior, but honestly that was so many years ago now I might be mistaken. IF I remember correctly they were 79 or 80 base model 4 cyl cars. One was no PS and I believe no PB, but again I might be getting OLD.

Can't say that I have ever seen a Capri with the radio delete option, but I would assume that has to be one out there, but you never know.

I ordered my 85 Capri as a radio delete so I could put my own sound system in. It saved a few dollars on the price.

Right-hand remote-control mirror was optional, except with rear louvers and T-roof, on these Capris:
    1979-83 Capri (base model)
    1982-83 Capri L
    1984 Capri GS

When the above models had louvers or T-roof the right-hand mirror was required at extra cost.

I'll add that my '84 L came without a passenger side mirror as well.

My wife used to own a 82 Capri L that only had a mirror on the driver side. It was not a "stripper", as it did have a 6 cylinder, auto, PS and PB, as well as a radio and rear window defogger. And technically, it is not a "Delete" item, the R side mirror was simply an available option, that was not ordered. Same with consoles, manual steering or brakes, rear defoogers etc, they were not "deleted" they were just not ordered on that particular car. A couple of my Fairmonts came with no passenger side mirror either, 1 had no radio either. And my 78 2 door sedan, drag car, was a real stripper, 4 cyl 4 speed, manual steering &brakes, no rear defogger, hood ornament, bumper guards, and instead of the larger aerodynamic ouside mirror, it had a Pinto type mirror attatched directly to the door skin, rather than the doors window frame.IT is about the only Fairmont I have seen that has no fake wood grain on the dashboard, and black plastic inside door handles and window cranks. It didn`t even have a day/night rearview mirror.
