    Default Early 85 Saleen wing..RIBBED!!

Any one ever seen a wing like this?? This is on my 85 Saleen car 0064. Seems to be at the time Saleen went from the Big Wing to the late 85-86 wing. I have not seen another like it. Thought I saw one on a early Saleen race car but could not be sure.

    That's really cool!

It definitely looks like a Saleen wing.

I wonder if there are any manufacturer's information located on the mounting area of the wing to help determine who made it?

yep, I saw it on a saleen race car when I was a young lad. Thought it was kinda funky but cool.

Actually I have owned the 85-0064 for about 5 years. Really great running car! According to Brad Bollings book Ship date 6/21/85. Car Fax said shipped to original dealer 5/24/85. First owner date is not till 7/06/91. Strange! The car is real and quite origional. I saw it for sale and new I had to own it. I really dont drive it much perhaps 1500 miles since I bought it.which 8-06. i have had a lot of folks wanting to buy it. But have not got the right offer!! I got the car with stock Pony 5-stars. I had to basket weaves it the were the right home. A few years ago I bought a set of 4 lug Speedlines I have yet to put rubber on! Thought they looked great on my 89-0025. And what a pieroid correct up grade for the 85! Thanks for the resposes!! i talk to a guy in the Mid West that has done quite a few 85 Saleens and he said there were a few odd ball parts in the early years.

Sometimes cars sit at dealerships unsold for sometime. It could be the dealership owner had it as his personal ride for the first few years.

Glad you found this site. Check into some of the other Saleen specific sites as well. Many of the other 85 owners hang there too. They'd be really interested to hear about your unique spoiler.

ITs not all that uncommon with cars that have a large sticker price, or a large price for what you get anyways. my 92 tempo GLS (fords try at a smaller SHO basically) was built 8/91, and was never titled until some time in 1995. Which to me makes sense considering the sticker price on it was only a few hundred less than you could buy an SHO for, which is also why the car didnt sell and was discontinued after one year of production. I doubt they even made the money back they spent giving it the factory body kit and the few other things that made it different from the other models because the sales were so poor.

Dude it's crazy I have the same one! Been lookin to find out what it is, it looks like the saleen small wing but with ribs, I'll get pics but it's identical to yours! I stripped it down and there were no markings on it, we had to repair some of the fasteners so I did some work to it it was a very thick quality piece I love it

    Interesting.

The ribbed wing is thicker and rounder in most places that the other 85-86 Saleen wings I've seen. I don't think 'Saleen' was marked anywhere on the early wings, or on many of the later wings either.

How much work was done to the one in the pic above? Was there a lot of fiberglass work to get it in paintable shape? Looks like a cool design with the ribs.

This wing had around 8 paint jobs on it, it was starting to flake off in places, so it was sanded down to bare and repainted, the repairs only were done on the mounting hardware and a little spot putty
