    Default May have found an 81 BM?

    Has the correct stripes, tan/black interior, etc.
    Has T Tops I think (OK this was 2 months ago and I have looked at a bunch of other cars since).
    If it is the TRX wheels are gone - has the cheapy one piece CL look-a-likes on it.
    Need to go back and get some info off of the door tag.
    Has a later Ranger 2.3 in it - non Turbo, 4 speed car.
    Would a N/A 2.3 have come in one?
    Would the tranny behind the 2.3 be an SROD or a non OD 4 speed?
    Car doesn't run - he says no spark.
    Going to try to stop and check it again this week.

    Check the buck tag. If it is a BM, there will be CAT stamped on it.

    All engines available in the '81 Capri (2.3L, 2.3T in Canada, 3.3L, 4.2L) were available in the BM. The standard engine was the non-turbo 2.3L.

    Post the VIN and the codes from the VC Label (door sticker) and Buck Tag and I can tell you what it was originally built with.

    could you please do the same for my car. the woman who sold it to me seemed to think it was a rare and special car. i said lady at this point they are all rare and special. but yes i am wondering if i didn't wind up buying an 81 black magic.When i see your reply i'll be more than happy to post anything you want-although i dont have much i'll give you whatever info i can *that i know to be authentic*. the buck tag up front is not valid . the consec. unit number must be from whatever car the person(s) did the butchered front clip off another capri. they didn't know or care (probably by their workmanship the latter) .
    Anyhow vin matches title(DELAWARE CAR) & suprisingly the orig. veci lable is in tack and matches also. passenger pillar series number dosen't jive though - again this could have been part of the altering THEY did. the gold TRX rims and gold striping wrapped around black 1 C paint looks blistered and orig. However the tell tale cats heads are gone again because of the obvious altering that took place . my guess yes it was struck but wasn't "creamed" up front. Gold faded emblems all there too. AT is there/i beleive with id. tag.prob. orig from the 4cyl. 3 spke fixed column. thanks my name is matt just joined the site and like what i seen so far . ~~pennsylvania

    Yeah, everyone thinks thier car is *Rare* like T-Top coupes. But in the last month there must have been 5 or more of them posted here (FYI ads) for sale.

    I would wait for production numbers before I shelled out extra cash for the priviledge of owning a "rare" car.

    that's my 2 cents.... which in the current economy is worth about 3 pesos....
    I push my fingers into my eyes......

    Update - 2023 - Looking to buy 81 Mustang, 82/85/86 Mustang GT, and 79 - 86 Capri (No Sunroof). Not looking for all original/show cars or convertibles - I will be modifying. Would be nice if both were - Black Interior, PW, PL, AC, No - or very little rust. Motor/Trans/Axle not important. Options negotiable with price.
