Back to the Future on a Schwinn

Born in 1968, the Lemon Peeler was the second bike to be introduced in the series, and shipped mid-model year. They were so popular that Schwinn could barely meet demand. For the first time ever Schwinn sold over one million bikes in a single year. This bicycle shape became forever a part of cycling history. -2004 Doug Mitchell, The Standard Catalog of Schwinn Bicycles, KP Books
    Back For A Limited Time!
This is your chance to own a limited edition Schwinn Lemon Peeler

Recreated to be just like the classic Lemon Peeler Krate Sting-Rays first introduced in 1968, the Schwinn Lemon Peeler is available for a limited time only. The Lemon Peeler was one of the most popular and beloved bike designs for generations of Schwinn riders. Available for the first time in years, this is a chance to own a classic style Schwinn bicycle that won't come up again soon. Hurry, only 500 bikes were produced. Each bike ships with a numbered certificate.

    Front spring shock absorber

    Hanger style handle bars
    Coaster brake
16" front wheel and 20" rear wheel

    Springer Fork
Absorbs impact to the front wheel when you jump the curb on your way to the roller rink.
The classic striped 'banana seat' and 'sissy' bar
Fits so many riders comfortably. Sit back and soak it in or get up on the end to build up some speed. Your paper route will never be the same.
The handlebars that create the look
Without these handlebars it wouldn't be a great Krate. The hanger bar style is why this bike fits a wide range of riders.
Limited Edition numbered certificate included with each bike
There are only 500 of this Edition being produced. Each one comes with a numbered card that verifies its authenticity as a Schwinn reproduction. Show it off knowing you own a piece of nostalgia.

    How it all began

Schwinn was established in 1895, by Ignaz Schwinn in Chicago, IL. Remembered for iconic bikes like the Phantom, the Varsity, the Stingray and the original Krate and Picker series of children's bikes, Schwinn has made it possible for riders of all ages to experience the thrill of riding a bicycle. Children and adults around the world trust the Schwinn name for quality and value. The joys of learning to ride for the first time, sharing an excursion with friends, proudly completing a new training regime or enjoying a local scenic route are all best enjoyed on a Schwinn.

Just like the bikes you remember from your childhood, you can still count on Schwinn to innovate in ways that enhance and simplify the riding experience for all generations of fans. Enjoy the freedom of riding a Schwinn bicycle again for the first time.

    Default cant believe it

Was at a flea market Saturday. Something told me to go there. Was in neighborhood.
Was not there looking for this item.
Passed by a toy vehicle collector booth. Small scale only.
Then something told me to ask if.......
Five minutes later, seller found my car in under a pile.
Four eye, black on black, no T-roof. Hood scoop is close enough. Almost exact. Car really has vibes.
They both have a lot of miles.
Will get new black paint, prob same stuff as on the real car, and a window renew.
Display with ho train street scene for Christmas.
Now to find other cars and trucks from past, mine, family and friends, in 1/64. Will be easier. Paint to match.
What a neat scene that would make.

    Default Daytona time

Below zero winter weather brings out old standby hobbies.
Set up O gauge train set for Christmas. Usually leave it up until spring, changing config and running it.
Added HO train few weeks ago. 5' x 7' table. Plenty of room for action.
With DC track power for the ho train in place, decided to add ho slot track, using same DC power source.

Items span from the 60's to 2000's. Got Aurora Model Motoring T-Jet set when it first came out. And then some.
Many hours changing track setups, racing HO slot car in basement 50+ lap race sessions during hot summer days.
Track road courses and/or large ovals took up the whole ping pong table.

Still have the cars, one controller, and a ton of MM track. Dang where did all the pins go? Found some AFX track in box.
Younger brothers had/have AFX from the 70's. Most everything has somehow survived intact.
Has a road and rail crossing. Gonna get one too. Never ever go around crossing gates to beat a real train.
Three 4 x 8 tables once. Fun. Except re-railing ho train cars. The cars win, unlike real life of course.

Boy does the new T-Bird car rip at 4.5v. Talk about short track racing....Surprised everything worked like new.
Quick cleaning of slot rails with emery cloth and iso alcohol did the trick. Track had no dead spots.
'Blur' car racing not allowed. With track voltage at 8.5v, spin outs can easily happen if not careful.
Assembled two test tracks. The other short track is banked all around like Bristol or something.
Now to remove the train sidings and expand the track.

gr79.....That's cool you found your car in scale! And slots are so much fun. One of the first things I want to do after I find and buy a house is set up mine.

Default HO slot track update 219

Going to repaint the diecast Mustang with black touch up paint left over from painting the real Cobra.
Should work fine. Same exact paint on both will be cool.

Finally got everything crammed on the temporary 5x7 table. Everything works. Slots are still fun as ever.
Good stuff for older people. Plus can bridge gap with any age, sharing time together, like bicycle riding.
Keeps mind (concentration, problem solving, reactions, peace) and body (eye focus, fingers) in shape.
Had lots of interesting details to figure out. Controller, broken track repairs. Cars were fine after long storage.

Found many additional items and more of my old stuff at youngest brother's house. Other younger brother the rest.
He converted to new AFX. I got the most of the old. Reverse, like when my toys were handed down to them.
New recollections of fun stories we talked about. What happened back then.
Brother's dog Ben totaling a 69 Chevelle (he has a real one too) and chewing a nice Z28's door off.
Other older dog Molson knew better. No more cats and dogs there anymore.
Friends/family. Good and bad experiences with this stuff and them. Personality quarks. The "why did they?"

Mix of old AFX and T-Jet slot tracks are smooth, clean, and have stable power. Ton of track left over. Stuff forgot i had.
Now to stock up a few new chassis and parts. Get more of the collection on the track, like real life cars, only a lot cheaper.
70's AFX magnatraction really fly around the banks at 1/2 throttle, faster than i remember.
Never did a totally banked track. Took hours sorting and combining track untouched for years.
T-Jets like flat track. Spin in donuts on banked, no traction with the skinny stock tires, which is fine.
New 'copy' versions of T-Jets work just like old did. JL bodies fit. Some people 3d print items that are n/a anymore.
T-jets spin tires off the rim, spin out, jump track lanes, fly off, the imperfect things that keep driver challenge in races.

Painted the Mustang with touch up brush. Same black paint that is on the real car outside.
Scraped off paint on door handles and A pillar/roof splash of chrome.
Picked up another like new Mercury Stocker AFX car. Body f+r overhangs chassis more than most.

Are these worth anything? Still in the original boxes. To be clear, there are two and they are in different boxes. They are for sale and I wasn't sure if they were worth anything or not.

The last one to sell on E-Bay was $18 with no remote. All the ones for sale have an "asking price" between $22-65, shipping extra.

I would ask for no less than $25-30 plus shipping.

100% overpaid for this - but I had to have it.

1:18 scale Welly Diecast - 1986 Mustang GT

Hood, Trunk, and Doors all open, suspension articulates, wheels turn, etc....The interior and engine bay even have little details.

I'm going to keep my spare keys in it's trunk!
