    Default FOXCHASSIS help! 85 predator convertible

    A friend of mine has a 85 predator convertible white w/red stripes that I need to get some information on the production numbers etc. This car has been around my town for YEARS and I just rescently had a chance to buy it. The bad thing is it was stolen from thier house a couple weeks ago and after a police chase was wrecked into a bluff

    It will be brought back to thier house and I'll be able to get more information on it as the tags etc. What should I look for? I know it has the hood with shellby scoop, rollbar, lemans stripes, and wheels (torque thrust type in a sense) for the lack of a better discription.

    Look for the Predator identification tag that is under the hood on the driver’s side fender. Is the car totaled? Hope they caught the dirt bag who stole it.

    I've only seen phone pics , but they don't look bad. I'm not sure if it's totalled or what. The guy's got away and one of thier heads went through the windshield.

    Hope its repairable. I am pretty sure its already been verified to be a Predator, if its the one I am thinking of.

    Kieth,
    I have talked with orlando somewhat extensively about the car, it is a true '85 Predator convertible. If you need any information, or have more questions on the car, please feel free to PM me.

    Please post the information on the car in this thread, or in the Decoding forum. Buck Tag, VIN, VC Label, Solomon #, options (both Ford and Solomon), colors, mileage, etc. Thanks.

    I'm going to try to get a look at it in person tomorrow. The few offers they have had is putting it out of my price range, but I would like to see a member or predator enthusiast get it. Sad thing is we alway's just blew it off as another gt convertible when we kid's.

    No, it's had offers on it more than I can afford. I need to get over to the house that it's being stored at and get some pics and the information for FOXCHASSIS. I'm friends with the owners, so I'll get the info if I can get some time from my business in the daylight. Somebody local has looked at it and a person from TX has inquired about it.

    I'm the person from Texas, but the car has some rust issues that are extensive as well as the accident damage, it puts me out of the race. I thought I had the VIN somewhere but I don't. I know that I have confirmed the last 6 of the vin though, and the car is legit.

    The last six of the VIN will do. I don't need the whole VIN.

    Here is some of the information that I could read. I had trouble seeing the buck tag and the VC label was worn off. VIN: [removed by request of current owner]

    The sloman tag had Topeka KS and the number was 5S than stamped 0149

    The buck tag reads [unit number removed by request of current owner] CVTM 9L WHT DF PS AC 03 GT WD MBW 01 EL A 031 X6 That is all the information I could read on the Buck Tag.

    I'll try to get the pics downloaded asap, but I'll need to send them to someone since I'm full on my FEP account.

    I has a 87-up steering wheel, original shifter ball, the wheels still have the spinners, predator valve covers, monte carlo bar, gt350 rocker stripe, rollbar. It needs some attention even past the accident damage, but the dash looks GOOD.

    That's it for now I have to get to an appointment.

    As for the Solomon serial number, the Predator experts will have to confirm what I assume here...

    5 = 1985 model year
    S = Solomon American
    0149 = car #49 (1985)

    I have not confirmed Foxchassis, but I believe that is the correct logic.

    I have had to pass on the car, but a buddy of mine who is very capable of restoring the car is trying to buy it. Apparently there are a couple of interested parties, but hopefully he can get it this week. He's chomping at the bit to restore this thing

    He is from around the KC area I believe, probably the most qualified person I know to fix the car. So hopefully he can get it.

    Stan - They built 12 Predator convertibles (or so) in 85, to the best of my memory.

    The little research I've done 2 sights say 7 '85 convertibles and 1 sight said 6 convertibles were produced???

    I'm just trying to get some more information out on the web to help any and all rare cars get noticed.

    I really don't think 7 is right, if that's the case I know of 5 personally, and know of a 6th. Very unlikely that I know 6/7 or 6/6 predator convertibles. I think it's around 12 convertibles, 6 or so of which were R models. I will have to ask Orlando and have him confirm.

    Turns out that not only is this a Predator but it started out life as a 9L Twister II convertible!

    I'll post up more later on this T2's production data.
