Default Motorcraft Replacement Battery for 86 GT

My battery died in my 86 GT and I found out from this website that the correct battery size for the replacement is Motorcraft BXL-56A. However, after checking with a few Ford dealers it appears that this battery is no longer available. Some dealers told me that there may be a few in the "system" and I have checked multiple sources without much luck.
My '86 GT is 99% bone stock with 30K miles and I would really like to get this battery. Does anyone know where I can find this battery- Motorcraft BXL-56A?

    Thanks!

I have a BXT 56 in my 85. Purchased from Ford about three years ago.

Here's a Motorcraft battery Spec chart, FYI.

I ran into the same thing early this year when I tried getting a motorcraft battery for my GT. Ended up going to a local battery warehouse, dealers and called all through the area and couldn't find one.

Thanks for everyone's reply. Actually, I have O'Reillys checking for me now as they don't have one at any of their stores in Michigan. I will let you know if I can come up with one.

I should see if they can find one that hasn't had the acid put in yet. That way it will still work when my current one dies. It is ~ 7 years old now, I'm probably on borrowed time

Go to fordparts.com you can search Ford Parts dealers. I just picked up one last week. I just checked and there are a few Ford dealers that still have ones in stock here in New York.

The motorcraft dealer here in Lansing has them in stock. They claim that they can still order them. I believe Ford dealers no longer carry them.

I checked at FordParts.com and looked up the available Motorcraft batteries for my car which is an 84. It makes you choose a local dealer to go through. It did list Motorcraft batteries for each engine size and a price for the battery. In my case, it said to call for availablity, but there are also 4-6 Ford dealers within a 30 mile radius, so I could broaden the search to locate one. My current battery is in excellent condition, but I'm not fond of having a non-Motorcraft product under the hood and no idea as to how long it's been there.

Last one I got was from a Motorcraft retailer PartsMart, which is an affiliate of Sanderson Ford here in Phoenix/Glendale,Az. The three dealers I called said they were obsolete and werent much help.
