There went my plans for the year.

I was so looking forward to running on Saturdays this year as BSD has started a new class that runs then. I changed my car to fit the rules for the new class, and now before I even got to run it once, the rules have been changed and I'm not eligible anymore. It sucks when they change the rules mid-stream like that.

Originally the rules stated "licensed and inspected, full exhaust, DOT tires, no electronics other than line lock, 11.50 or slower dial". So I got my car inspected, put the full exhaust back on and pulled the 408 in favor of a 351.

Now they've added "original style full interiors, no tin work". That wasn't in the rules before! I have no rear seat and racing seats with a roll bar, plus a fuel cell in the hatch, so I'm out.

Guess I'll put my car back the way it was and run Friday nights again this year.

I would surely let them know of my disappointment towards the rule change. After all you did put your car together with the rules they released last year. The change has to be revolving around getting more cars in the class or keeping certain ones out. Whatever it is its BS!

I would pop in and have a conversation with Tech and see what goes. In just about every class I've seen, the "racing seats" are okay as long as you have both, then see what is required for the rear.

I drive my car every day but have a rear seat delete because it's useless with the roll bar (and the flat surface makes it easier to haul junk to the track). If you have the trim panels back there, I bet carpeting the rear area (or a rear seat delete) gets you approved.

I think what prompted the change was that the first night they ran the class they had an early Nova compete that looked like a race car, but met the then existing rules. They very much want this class to be DD type cars not race cars. I don't have a problem with that, I just wish they would think things through before announcing rules for a class.

So far it looks like the class will be a hit as they had a good sized field for it this week, which is good for the track and therefore good for all of us. I did well this week in my old Friday class and really enjoyed getting back with my old friends. It's just the late Friday night schedule I don't like, which is why I jumped at the chance to run Saturday afternoons instead. I hope they post up the point standings in S/S soon as it will probably be the only time all year I can say that I'm the points leader!

Oh well, what's that saying? When life hands you lemons, make lemonade.
